Was playing black templars tonight. I was in a situation where I had two of his squads within the 12" of my mono. I didnt want him to take any causuties on one of his sqauds, as then they would get their rightous zeal move. Is it manditory to fire at a unit within range. ???
I don't see why it would be manditory
I think it could be successfully argued that firing the GFAPs requires firing at all or not firing at all. The wording in the codex specifies that using the GFAPs targets "every enemy unit with a model within 12 [inches]".
I would find it difficult to convince someone who questions why I would think that I could pick and choose.
Karmoon: "well.. any kore = good kore" 12:35pm PST 23 May 2007
Well the cron codex reads that FAP WILL fire d6 shots at every enemy unit with a model within 12" of the mono. WILL being the key word here. however this would make the particle whip usless once the enemy was in a 12" range. If i would need to fire them, I could never attack with the Particle whip.
In my specific case I ziped some crons though the portal so I couldnt fire the PW anyway.
My opponent had a question about it and just trying to clear it up for next time. Im sure ill meet up with those damn BT again. He took all most all close comat stuff and was just trying to ignore the mono as best he could. So I just rolled it out and blocked his whole squad of 20. Had to take the long way around going though area terrain. They never reached me. Blasted him down coming though no mans land.
It would be the one time I would be pleased with my dice when they rolled like the usual crap they do if I did have to fire at them.
Saying it that was makes sense.. but then so does the other way too...
Unfortinatly WILL only has about 10 different definitions..
1.am (is, are, etc.) about or going to: I will be there tomorrow. She will see you at dinner.
2.am (is, are, etc.) disposed or willing to: People will do right.
3.am (is, are, etc.) expected or required to: You will report to the principal at once.
4.may be expected or supposed to: You will not have forgotten him. This will be right.
5.am (is, are, etc.) determined or sure to (used emphatically): You would do it. People will talk.
6.am (is, are, etc.) accustomed to, or do usually or often: You will often see her sitting there. He would write for hours at a time.
7.am (is, are, etc.) habitually disposed or inclined to: Boys will be boys. After dinner they would read aloud.
8.am (is, are, etc.) capable of; can: This tree will live without water for three months.
9.am (is, are, etc.) going to: I will bid you “Good night.” –verb (used with object), verb (used without object) 10.to wish; desire; like: Go where you will. Ask, if you will, who the owner is.
Is there an English Major in the House..?????
Ofcourse you dont HAVE to shoot it. It WILL fire D6 shots... IF you choose to.
If you fire the Particle Whip, then by the main rules you may NOT fire the Flux Arc. Would it still do D6 hits on each unit? No, because it hasnt been fired.
You always have the option of shooting a weapon or not.
Another example. An Immortals Blaster WILL get 2 shots at an enemy within 24". BUT ONLY IF you choose to fire it.
