I’m pretty sure that somewhere in the 5th edition designer notes in the new white dwarf, said something about transport vehicles not restricted to caring their parent units. If that's the case could a raider be given to a squad of 10 warriors with 2 splinter canons and 2 shredders so they can move, disembark, and then shoot with JUST the assault weapons (8 splinter cannon and 2 shredder shots!) before charging in with full potential? Do all the warriors have to fire? Or can just the ones with assault weapons fire?

Yes you can shoot with the assault weapons in your unit and forgo shooting with other weapons... and hence still assault.
In the new edition trsnports which are bought as unit upgrades aka our raiders... are not forced to only carry the unit which you bought it for (unlike 4th ed). However the only unit which can start the game in it is the unit which you bought the transport for.
So basically you can deploy the raider empty next to a unit of 10 "foot sloggers" with the desired weaponry of 2 splinter cannons and 2 shredders, and then in your first turn embark on the raider.
Hope that answers your questions.
There is nothing more annoying when your Wyches with Plasma Grenades get "Always strikes First" for their combat drugs!
yup all sweet!!! the 8 splinter cannon shots and shredder shots should soften any unit up before charging in with 20 basic atacks!!! used with some wyches or reavers should be quite effective!!!!
If there was going to be some kind of restriction it would have to show up in the FAQ that we are supposed to get this Saturday. As of right now, nothing stops you from loading up a warrior squad onto a raider other than size.
In a game I did this, created a squad of 10 with a sybarite with xenospasm, 2 cannons and 2 shredders with no more than 10 men. I used a small raider squad that I started on the ground with the empty raider nearby with scaling nets. On the first turn I moved the empty raider over the 10 man squad and moved them 12" towards some cover to use as a gunboat unit.
Unfortunately, my opponent used true line of sight and immobilized the raider, so much for that idea.
I did mention this in another thread but having a warrior squad with 2 lances and 2 blasters that are loaded on a raider would have an option (if they dont move) to fire 3 lances and 2 blasters if there was a target in range. Just being able to fire the 3 lances would be fun enough and even if you had to move 12" you will still get to fire a darklance and 2 blasters (not bad at all).
Of course, there is nothing really allowing us to fire from a raider beyond 6" so we will have to wait and see come July 12".
"On a hunch, I melted them down and inhaled the fumes and read the dark eldar codex again, AND FOUND A BUNCH OF NEW RULES HIDDEN BEHIND THE OTHER WORDS..." [Gardeth on modelling & interpreting the DE Codex]
Just to clarify, you are still restricted to 1 heavy and 1 special weapon for the squad you purchase the Raider for. Once deployed though you can use the Raider to transport any unit you like (ie the foot squad with 2 cannons and 2 shredders).
