With 5th ed. FAQ! Let us celebrate
@hellaandrew: isn't one thread enought? It was allready posted here
@Darktrooper: The talos was allready a MC in 4th Edition. Skimmer was only mentioned to allow him to fly over other troops, as he clearly uses skimming tech. to move.
The biggest changes in my opinion belong to the hellion skyboard. No more 12" Charge or D6" fleet....
That makes it far less attractiv
So all in all the FAQ is a slight nerf for DE, but that does not matter too much, as we benefit from some other rules, so it's ok.
we'll have to come up with some new taktics....
Q. What do gruesome talismans do?
A. They no longer any effect in this edition of the game?>>
Anyone else catch the missed word in the answer? Can we get an errata for the FAQ? I'm glad to see that GW put so much time and effort into getting things right in this FAQ. It gives me confidence that they'll do a good job on our new Codex in 2025.
Sorry folks... basic "attention to detail" stuff like that makes me nuts.
"Is Archon Braigh-Dee going to have to choke a Wych?

Interestingly the Tau errata suggests (but does not outright state) that if a character is with a retinue that he cannot leave (e.g. one purchased through his army list entry) he cannot be singled out in close combat like has been speculated in another thread around here

well the FAQ actually messes up the Talos,
Q. Is the Talos a monstrous creature or a
A. The Talos is classified as a monstrous creature
and as such uses all the rules for Monstrous
Creatures rather than skimmers.
logic dictates that it moves as a skimmer but the phrase can interpreted to mean that a talos is only a monstrous creature... I get what you guys are saying but still,IMO the argument could be made...
Well there goes our only means of destroying a Monolith, the Goblet of Spite is only for use against units with weapon skills so watch out Mr Vect for any traiterous Wyches!
Kinda thought that this was how it was meant to be though and using the Goblet against vehicles was a bit of a stretch - ow well.
And how about the new protal rules, Skimmers, Jetbikes and Jump packs can come through if its blocked.
But there simply HAS to be more to come for us and I eagerly await the Codex to fill some gaps here.
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
You know what I don't get is wych weapons, they start out as nothing like what they are now, then they got changed in the codex update, and became the upgrade we know today, this upgrade halved WS when the wyches were being attacked. Then I'm pretty sure the next step is the 2nd edition codex, reprinted in 2001, it had the same rules, the 4th edition Dark eldar FAQ however quite clearly states that wych weapons affect for both attacking and defending with the wyches.
Now the new FAQ drops and suddenly it's back to defending only. I don't know if this is just a typo of some sort in the 4th edition one or if they actually did a backflip on it somewhere, but between that and the poor quality control on the 5th edition FAQ it sure doesn't instill confidence, not to mention the latest space marine rumours which have a number of people pretty unhappy, me, it leaves me wondering how the hell they plan on making DE anywhere close to on par with it.
