Welcome to Librarium Online!
Is it just me, or is anyone else getting sick of the numerous posts on what seems like every single Warhammer 40,000 forum/message board about what the Tau need? The sniper idea has been done to death. And, no matter what you say to justify it, Tau do NOT need a close combat unit. I understand that it is fun to dream and even more fun to toss around ideas for rules and whatnot, but as a whole it is perceived as whining, and makes us Tau players look like newbies. Anyways, I think it is about time to make a list of the things that Tau DO NOT need. It would be good to focus on the strengths of the army for a change. Please post any great victory stories, funny moments, unexpected events, and general things that you love about your army.

I agree with you for the most part, we really don't need anything else to win. what I always wanted was more option so all the winning armies wouldn't be the same, so I started WH....

i'd like another weaon fit for the devilfish chassis
perhaps something a bit more like the chimera, SMS and burst with a reduced transport capacity mayhaps?
or a new weapon to put on top of it, perhaps some kind of BIG burst cannon 3 + D3 shots and str 6 ap 4 maybe?
less hate more kittens
I think all the Tau needs now is maybe a few things here or there. The snipers thing while overdone is a good idea that fits the Tau fluff imo.
All I think Tau is lackin now is the chapter/legion effects. YOu know chapters of Tau that have some diff weps or possibly the expansion of the kroot, some special charcters, abilities etc.
I think that Tau are an awesome army list and don't need any changes at all, especially now that they have the portable rail rifles to help handle marines. I must admit, that was a welcome addition, and I PLAY marines. (I don't own Tau... yet)
The problem is that people don't know how to play their Tau armies correctly. They use too many of the wrong units (Kroot) and ignore their best asset (Really really long ranged, high powered weapons).
Tau firewarriors are really awesome, IMO. Players don't need Kroot when they have a 30" range ST 5 weapon, unless they are using them as meat shields with NO upgrades.
Tau tanks, on the other hand, suck. Leave them at home, unless you want some pathfinders, and spend the points on better units such as crisis battlesuits and a couple of broadsides to destroy tanks with.
There is a post from boxANT here that has a preview of the new 40k rulebook. Judging by that post, I would have to say that Tau just got even better.
In every battle Ive played, my Hammerhead has been worth its weight in gold. My Broadsisdes however....Tau tanks, on the other hand, suck. Leave them at home
i totally agree, on may a forum about tau all i hear is, tau need snipers, or tau need close combat jump troop,s im ick of people making up units and telling us about them cuz their never gonna make them real units
Quote of the week: "dude, for a whole hour, i would fall asleep!"
tau rock by them selves and are even deadly with kroot and if they do get the jump troops or sniper they will be the best race hands down
The Tau don't need nothin (I know they beat me every time I play em).
I'm sick of the posts about *cry* tau need a CCW squad bla bla bla... their guns rock major ass... if you can't kill then before they get to you... mabe you deserve to die/loose/whatever... in other words Tau don't need CCW any thing... they were never ment to get into CC
I've lost a game with DE vs tau... DE zero army, Tau full army left... any questions... ever sence that, that has never happened again... *mudders something about the damn tau jump packs*
