Which do u prefer in the new edition? I've only been through the book briefly and looks like the Prism will be more popular among us Eldar players. What are your views?
Signed Sealed Saint
Fortius Quo Fidelius
Personally, fire prisms wont feature prominently in my army. With only 2 BS4 fire support units (Wraithlord and Prism) the prism is now effectively BS2 as regards to dice rolls.
I think really that now it will play the role of the support weapon platforms for indiscriminate large template blasting at range rather than precise shooting. I will reserve it for horde armies.
With the favor of more punch I think the Fire Prism wins for me currently, I'm not sure how the maths works but when I was using them with the new rules it seem to hit a fair bit. The holofields did little good though so my next trial would be to run two bog standard Fire Prisms and see how they fair.
As for the Falcon, it's dropped a lvl in my books. While moving at combat speed it can surely fire more weapons than your average tank, but if you wanted to fire all it's weapons while cruising, well you're limited to the missile launcher and twin-linked shuriken catapults option, which isn't the hardest hitting combo I can think of. This of course can be bolstered with a small squad of aspect warriors, especially scoring units.
Darth Vader: ,,No, it's not."
Well myself I'm still having a pair of Falcons.
This thing will be moving 6" a turn, and using cover. Making it rather tough (not as tough as in ye olden days, but tough).
Eldar Missile Launcher
This will be moving quickly up the battlefield at first and going for infantry. When it gets behind the enemy lines it will slow down and start launching 3 S8 shots into tanks rear/side armour.
And both can pick up straggly troops squads, and keep them safe while they keep an objective for me.
