Welcome to Librarium Online!
Is it just me or does the devilfish entry say that it has a burst cannon and a pair of gun drones. But when it says you can upgrade the gun drones to a sms system. It says nothing about the already equipped burst cannon?
Logic would then follow that a warfish would be equipped with both a burst cannon and a sms system?
I always removed my burst cannons from my sms armed devilfish
"It's important to remember at all times that anyone who's done more than you has no life... Also, anyone who's done less than you is a noob."
Also, on the model the burst cannon is meant to be attached to the hull, so how would you remove it to put on a SMS?
With 5th Ed, would the drones count as a seperate kill point? If so, I will be warfishing my backside off.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
Well, judging on the rule that gun drones don't count for VPs or can claim objectives (especially in 5th ed) I would hazard a guess that they don't count for kill points.
Yes, I believe they do for the following reasons if they have disembarked from the vehicle:
1. Latest FAQ says they function "as a Drone Squadron".
2. Codex says they function "as an independent unit" (as in independent from the Tau vehicle).
The Codex says they would never be a Scoring unit. This was for 4th Ed when most things counted as scoring (bar ICs, transport vehicles etc). 5th Ed removes the need for this sentence, since only Troops count as scoring units now.
This leads me to believe that the two GDs could give our opponents 1 Kill Point. However, I would be interested to hear what the other Vet Tau players think.
