Welcome to Librarium Online!
I've always hated the way the Raiders look: I think that the "sail" on the tail end is kind of dumb looking. Everything else for the DE are so sleek and deadly, while the sail is just silly.
I solved this problem (for myself, anyway), by relocating the "sail" down to the bottom of the prow of the raider, making a "cow catcher" for slicing marines in half while zooming past. In addition, models can stand on the blade, leading at least to the illusion that 10 models could fit in the thing.
I've mentioned this in many different threads, so I thought I'd better go ahead and post some pics to show what I mean.
Anyway, I uploaded some photos to the gallery; comments welcome:
Looks good, I like the one that’s a bit more compact. The one that hangs down far seems a little odd to me.
Here is a link to my DE army (bad pics) but at the end you can see my converted raiders.
I cut out the driver and lowered the sail about an inch, I then moved the steering controls to the front where the gun was, and then I moved the gun under the front end. This gave them a much sleeker look and I am happy with it.
I have the massive blade cut up, glued to the hull (bottom) facing front, so when the raider drives, it cuts of everything. Also, I took the sail blades on the top and cut them in two to make vertical stabilizers for the back of my raider. Also, I used plasticard to make a gunners platform in the back, where the driver WAS unitl I cut him off. The driver is where the gunner WAS supposed to be.
