Welcome to Librarium Online!
Just wanted some people's opinions, do you think the new independent character rules mean warlock bodyguards are worth the points now? If not to form an assault unit, at least to protect your farseer, since he can now be singled out.
If you mean just to protect the Seer from random shooting, it seems fine. But I don't think they'll protect him in combat. The rulebook specifies that any entry denoted as a bodyguard, retinue, etc will allow the IC to operate as an upgrade character while he's part of the squad. But the Farseer/Warlock entry just says that for each Farseer in the army, "you may include a squad of Warlocks." The Seer and Warlocks make up a single HQ choice, but there's no indication that the Warlocks form a retinue or bodyguard (in fact, there's no indication that they even have to stick together). I'm not sure they'll be able to protect the Farseer in combat.
On the other hand, with the changes to the way template weapons work, I think a unit of Warlocks with Destructor could be fairly potent against a lot of opponents.
If you're going to use the warlocks purely as a wall for your farseer I might advise against this as it will not be a cheap firewall meant to protect him, and without fortune will not even last particularly long. It may be easier to throw the farseer on a bike and just keep him of sight. That or load him up in a serpent/falcon. I hate marching them out on foot in 5th ed due to the save they receive from units, 4+ cover, is certainly not an improvement over their rune armor.
-Alaitoc Ranger Force (1850pts)
Way too expensive. Always better places to spend the points.

im also considering whether or not they would be worth for having conceal on other squads now with all the 4+ cover saves going around..
Space Marines -- Black Templars -- 2300pts
Imperial Guard -- Steel Legion -- 1800pts
