Welcome to Librarium Online!
So in case anyone hasn't noticed in September GW is releasing a new boxed set (Games Workshop).
Is it just me or this one heck of a deal? A warboss, 20 boyz, 5 nobz, and 4 deffkoptas would typically go for a huge chunk of anyone's paycheck but all these are coming in a set for $60. Also, it comes with a lot of space marine goodies as well. I know me and a friend who is planning on making a space marines army soon are gonna split the cost meaning I'll get over $100 worth of orky goodness for just $30.
Really I'm just posting to vent my excitement at it but I can't help but wonder if I'm missing something; because in all honesty, it almost seems to good. Am I worrying over nothing or is there something I'm not getting? All in all I'm relatively new to 40k so I haven't had much experience with past boxed sets like these so if anyone would like to give me an idea on what the last few were like that'd be great!
If nothing else just letting people know what I found. Hope it helped someone.
"Orks have to be followers of Nurgle! They're green, smell bad, and just want to spread the fun!"
I think the retail value of the models in the box (not including the rulebook, templates, or dice) was estimated around 260$ total. GW confirmed that the model count was correct as is the rumored retail price (75$?) - so yeah, it's amazing. I do orders for a rogue trader store and we will be ordering as many of these as we can afford, store, and they will let us have. Hell, I'm starting a marine army just because of this box...
Two's to kill. Ahh, sweet sweet music.
It's available for pre-order at the online store. I ordered mine yesterday.
Note: its only 3 deffcoptas.
In the past the boxed sets haven't been this good. But in the past (3rd Ed) the boxed set contained true models (ie not the pressed fit ones like these). The 3rd ed box had something like 10 space marines and a landspeeder and 20 dark eldar warriors. These were all the same as the existing sprues, so the pressed fit ones are a lot cheaper for them to make lots of and hence charge very little. A good example of this is the fantasy boxed set, which has over 100 figures for the same price as black reach.
I'm going to be getting one to round out my force a little bit. And the deffcoptas look nice!

This is a super good box. I'll be getting at least 2 so I can make the boyz into stormboyz on the cheap as well as getting some of those neat looking deffcoptas. The boyz will probably have relatively more static poses than the multipart ones, but they look pretty decent from the pics I've seen.
I'm trying to catalog every song with a reference to yetis or Sasquatch. Please help.
I know! What a deal! I am gonna buy 1 for sure but i want to buy 3...or 4...5?
"The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far as is needed?"
yeah, i've managed to convert a friend of mine to 40k and we're gonna buy a box each. i'm giving him the marines and i'm getting the orks. he'll have enough for an army right there and i'll have 2 PK warbosses, 10 nobz and 6 'koptas. WAAAGH!! i'm really excited about the deffkoptas too. (i'll be putting big shootas on them though, i think they come w/ rokkits right?)
My award winning Orky tale
I'm particularly excited for the new nob and warboss models... plus all the marine heads and body parts to festoon my boyz and terrain... plus all the new ork players to add to the waaagh!
