Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey everyone, haven't posted in a while, but I was wondering how to make gaunts into gargoyles!! (and get them to look good lol)
Now that I've finally got my flying 'rant I want some little critters to fly with him (he gets lonely in the skies, hailing down devourer shots by himself)
I've seen people talking about putting wings on the gaunts, but what wings? I haven't got a clue what wings would be small enough, maybe swooping hawks' wings, but really, they're not very tyranid-esk.
So yes, any advice would be helpful.
there's a quick and easy fix for this:
Plasticard. A thin sheet and a box of gaunts will do wonders!
Just draw and cut our vague wing like shapes and stick/paint accordingly! Remember to only use hormagaunt models though - as they're leaping it looks like they're flying when based accordingly. Normal gaunts look stupid with wings unless you heavily alter the legs - as they're only trotting along the ground. It looks like they're walking through the sky (which sounds good but looks poop)
you could use acetate too, if you want more insectoid wings. You could scan some dragonfly wings in, and print them out on the acetate once you scale them to the right size.
I build my own gargoyles, and they're great! They don't look amazing, but most people like them.
They're also amazing at nerfing harlequins which is a big boon for us nids.
When some harly using chump charged you with his fairies and expects to go first in CC, it's a great feeling to say, 'Bio plasma you dirty cheating hippy' and erase half his harlequins before they even strike

Thanks for the quick response, thing is, I'm going to need more fleshborers gargoyles with scything talons - i wish.
No worries buddy. LO exists to help.
Here's the thread from my previous models.
I know it's a bit arrogant because they're my own models, but hopefully it will inspire you:
You can see the gargoyles at the back of this pic too:
Having played with Karmoon (oo er!) I can vouch for how great his gargoyles look! I wish id seen them before buying 15 of the little blighters. If you need more flesh borer arms you can usually get people to trade you them. In fact, i think ive got about 20 of them that Im not using. Pm me and you can have them gratis.
Why thank you uncle macewind.
Remember the gaunt box is ideal. You get enough flesh borers for 8 gaunts.
And most people don't use termagaunts.
Spineys are all the rage - so you can still have lots of spine gaunts with the gaunt bits.
Out of one box i have always made 8 spines and 8 flesh borers. The flesh borers look really good on the hommies. The active charging pose looks really quite good with a gun in hand, kinda arnie like...
Dear Game Developer,Caps-Lock, its like cruise-control for AWESOMENESS!
Rock is cheese, Paper is just fine
WWP and other Dark Eldar how to
Hmm ok - I don't use the 8 hormagaunts I have, so I can tear their limbs off, thing is I actually use termagants so would I have to do some mass converting? (I'm still stuck with some, the Battle For Macragge set - the gaunts are in two pieces, a pain to convert) I'm glad they're not all painted yet lol
Encountered another problem - how am I to get the flying bases? The clear ones, I mean.
GW doesn't seem to stock them by themselves?
