Alright guys, I am starting speed freeks and am currently done with my 8th buggy(6 with Rokkits, 2 with Skorchas), and have a few decisions to make now before add anything else. I am going to add at least 2 more buggies(Theme for the army is kinda a mad max-road warrior feel) and then I'm gonna use the wall of buggies as a screen for the rest of my army to arrive intact.
I'm trying to decide between a 20-Orc mob of Stormboyz, a Battlewagon or 3 filled with scarboyz or 'ard boyz, multiple Zzap gun mounting gun trukks, which HQ to use, and little squads of Outriders to harass the hell out of the enemy.
I'm really leaning towards 2 souped up Battlewagons and 1 helluva command squad in a trukk along with 2 Zzap gun mounting gun trukks and 1 Death Kopta with a SuperTankBusta Bomb wielding mekboy in it to finish out a 1500pt list.
I'd really appreciate feed back from Ork players about what else to add, not slamming the idea of the cheap Rokkit buggy screen idea, which I've already decided on. Comprehensive input is the best, with reasons as to why, not just what to add. But do keep in mind that the buggies are gonna screen for whatever I'm gonna add, and 10 buggies is a pain in the butt to kill in the first turn.
where do u find the rules and all the other stuff for speed freaks?
Codex Armeggedon for Speed Freeks, WD. 289 for the Chapter approved Clans, not sure where the Feral ork list is. Anyone know?
The buggy army is a cool idea. Highly risky & fragile but cool. Try giving the skorcha buggies stikkbomb chuckas, and spikes & blades... then use them to tank shock people. When they try to counter attack in CC, watch as they impale themselves on the blades. I call it the "Buggy of Doom" and it can work great, especially against S&S armies who like to set up on the back 6" of the table.
Forget about stormboyz - that's too many points to wrap up in one mob. I think you need trukkboys: It fits your theme best and would give you the punch you need b/c you really need some real troops. Battle wagons are cool but big fire magnets. If you're going to take one, take skarboyz. 20 of those (better yet 18 + a nob with a PK + a big mek with a KFF) will kill everything they come in contact with. They're fragile though so you've got to protect until they get into combat.
A squad of bikers can put up a pretty effective smog screen to protect your battle wagon; just keep in mind that with the upcoming 4th edition "hull down" is going away so this tactic might not be as effective for very long.
Once again, I think you need trukkboyz, not zzap guns or stormboyz. You need some orks in your army! Incidently, 'ard boyz in a trukk would definitely fit the mad max theme well.
Alright, the almost-for-sure decided upon list is as follows:
Warboss w/ 3 Attack Squigs in a trukk
Elites: Zagstruck and 20 Vulchas, Nob w/ Powerklaw
Elites: 20 Storm Boys with Nob and powerKlaw(This can be used as even though the Speed Freeks list has an 0-1 limit on Storm Boyz, The Vulchas with Zagstruck are more along the lines of a retinue for him, and he takes up the Elite choice with his hand picked mob of Vulchas. I've called the rulez boyz 4 times, and the 3 local GW stores on it, and they agree, it's like taking Land Raiders as Transports for your HQ, and not using a Heavy Support choice.
6 Squads of 2 Buggies
4 with Rokkit launchas, 2 with Skorchas, Stikbomb chukkas and spikes, all have armored top.
2 Individual Deth Kopta Meks, each with Kustom Force Field and Superstikkbombz
3 Individual GUnTrukks with zZap guns, forcefields
That's my 1850 Tournament list. The standard battle plan is to hide behind the buggies for the first turn, then second turn(If not first, 24" assault range with Vulchas) I'll be on the enemy with 41 Stormboyz, and 1 badass Warboss. The Warboss and Deth Koptas go Tank hunting after the StormBoyz have been delivered to the enemy, while the buggies escort the falling back remnants of the army off the table If any buggies survive past the escorting job. The Zzap guntrukks are mainly going after heavy armored troops like Termies, Daemon Princes, stuff like that.
Tell Me what you guys think, I've received nothing but positive feedback from everyone on the effectiveness this list should acheive, and feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

What's that have to do with the list I just typed, not exactly a comprehensive reply, and I'm not gonna toss my buggies and rokkit packs and go chase rabbits with hammers and broken down trukks with big green cow beasts.
Are you going to be allowed to use the special character in a GT though? I thought they were generally banned?
The list looks interesting. It'll be fast and fragile but packs quite a wollop. Keep in mind that with the 4th edition, those KFF aren't going to be nearly as effective, at least in screening the vehicles.
Personally I'd consider dumping the guntrukks and taking more buggies, or bikes, or something. They're just fire magnets and too easy to destroy.
