with the new rules I have been playing around with the idea of running an archon on a jetbike. The thing is that I am not sure which combo to deck out the archon...
Archon, Punisher, shadow field combat drugs, jetbike, animus vitae
archon, punisher, tormentor helm, shadow field, combat drugs, jetbike
Ok option 1 can give me 5 attacks on the charge at strength 6 and then strength 7 after prisioners have been taken. Option 2 will give me potentially 6 strength 6 attacks. Not sure which one would be better...
Curious what everyone else thinks... thanks
There is nothing more annoying when your Wyches with Plasma Grenades get "Always strikes First" for their combat drugs!
(Don't forget plasma!)
Option 2 is best IMO, the fact that you can get to S6 "base" (and easily now) he archon goes from specialising in either high T killing (agoniser) or marine killing (punisher) to killing anything T6-7 or under with relative ease.
He maybe expensive but it is the only way to make the archon a one man army.
I would have to agree that the 2nd one is the better choice. The vitae isn't going to really help until you take slaves which can be late in the game so all it will amount to is not having to take another drug if you want.
More attacks base = good.
Prey they don't take you alive
I really like the Animus Vitae... it's kinda sad that VPs are no more. Gone are the days when I could wipe out unit after unit of conscripts, run them down, and win huge.
Yeah, as mentioned before, the Animus' strength bonus may come whenever, so the second choice is my go. Though I would throw the Vitae on him anyway
Don't forget your Plasma Grenades!
From my calculations adding plasma to option 1 would take the wargear points total over the allowed 100 and is therefore illegal.
So option 2 with plasma floats my boat also. It ends up being cheaper even with the grenades.
But at 172 points this is one expensive model!
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
Like everyone else I would say option 2 with Plasma, I've tried something very similar before and he was great, ended up being taken out by necron warriors when I estimated distance poorly and stranded him 8" away with his shadow field already down instead of turbo boosting, but he sure did damage that game.
