Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey guys, I just discovered the most amazing two things in my eldar codex yesterday...and I feel like a retard. I've been playing 40k for 5 years and eldar for about a year and a half, as well as playing my eldar in several tournaments.
The first thing I discovered was the EML is str. 4 AP 4. I always assumed the EML was just a normal missle launcher(untill yesterday). The reason I checked out the EML was because all you guys on the forum kept complementing and refering it as a very viable weapon so I thought to myself "well I'll just take a look" and now I think it is definetly one of the better weapons available to the eldar. Ha Ha Ha yes I know you guys probably all already knew this but this is a really cool to make a "new" discovery.
The second thing I discovered was the Falcon's pulse laser shoots 48" in. not 36"in.
Realizing I had missed something with the EML, I thought I might have missed something else, and well, I had. Having feilded two to three falcon's in my army regularly, this "new" information added a whole new awesomeness to the falcon. I had always assumed the pulse laser was just a two shot bright lance without the 'lance' ability, but I guess I was wrong...good thing too.
So I guess no matter how good or knowledgable one might think they are (me for instance), it never hurts to read your codex!! I thought I would just let you guys know that eldar just got way cooler for me. So thanks for your time and feel free to comment on my idiocy, I also think this story is kinda funny and thought I would share
Lol I actually have felt the same way recently.
I was browsing my codex when i discovered that Hawks have an ability that lets them leave the table (even during CC) to go back into reserve and then be able to deepstrike back in on a later turn. Probably never read it cause I was never a fan of hawks in the first place (I play against marines way too much for them to ever be useful).
So in addition to lesson one which you have provided of Read your codex, there is also lesson two. Read your friend's codex.
I think you need to spend more time on your floor.

Very nice proverb Snowman, that is too true, too often!lesson two. Read your friend's codex.
that's good I'm not the only one

Know thy enemy indeed, but know thyself as well - I tend to skim read the codices (yes most of them) about once a month to ensure that I keep the details fresh in my mind - nothing intimidates the opposition as much as "...hmm I think this is an S5 AP3 weapon" - " Well actually if you check your codex my friend you'll find it's S4 AP5 actually!"
And always watch out for people turning fluff into rules - I have a friend who is always reading his codex wrong or claiming that GW staff tell him the "rules actually mean...". As I say to him - tell me the codex and page number for the rule and we'll have a look......
Ha Ha very nice, Daziel. It is nice to be able to call rules on your opponent especially when they are rude and bad opponents, it is kind of rewarding to beat them on the battle field and with their codex
Things I missed after playing the previous eldar codex so long were the armour of the dark reapers, I thought it was 4+ and also the BS of a fire prism which I believed was 3. Also I actually only realised about the EML recently, not sure what It was in the old eldar book.
