    Ranged Carnifex Question

What would the rules be for a carnifex fitted with two barbed stranglers??

Does it mean that they are twin linked and you get to reroll to wound or something? with one large blast marker,,

Or does it mean you get to use two large blast markers?

    thanks

They become TL, see page 30 of the codex. First paragraph, last sentence.

Twin-linking a blast weapon just means you reroll both scatter and the distance, main rule book pg 30 right hand column.

The only ranged weapons that aren't twinlinked are ones that already are (TL-deathspitter and TL-devourer). Everything else (on an MC, not a vehicle) is twin-linked.

So, generally, if you're looking for anti-infantry carnies, tl-devs and BS are your best bet. Or two TL-devs for the famous devil/dakkafex.

i was just looking into the two tl devourer idea. - 8 S6 shots, rerolling to hit and wound sounds good at 18" range. and it'd need ES. - 113 points. could use it as an elite choice. but it'll be playing against space marine power armour so would it pay off? or better to get in CC where it can ignore armour?

Carnifex aren't so good in close combat - they have a low number of attacks and often an opposing enemy will either have a power weapon or it will be a large unit that will just tie it up in CC for a long time.

The 113 point dakkafex is an awesome option... It can fire its weapons and do alot of damage, and then you can still charge if need be.

The TL-dev/Barbed Strangler is also pretty nice as a heavy support choice.

Yes, dakka is one of the best anti-marine guns in the game. It's best to shoot then assault. I believe MVBrandt did the math that a dakka fex shooting then assaulting does more damage to MEQs than a CC fex just assaulting.

On top of that you'll have 3 MC attacks with the dakka fex to try and take out vehicles if you need it.

the tl dev/barbed strangler choice could even be used as an elite choice at 115. too many options to choose

Unfortunately this is not the case. It must be less than 115 points to be an elite. Sorry.

and now when a carnifex assaults a vehicle they attack the value of the rear armour? 3 standard attacks should be enough for that.

Yep, it's why you see so many dakkafexes in most lists. A dakkafex and flying dakka tyrant are real shining stars in the nid list.
