Welcome to Librarium Online!
okay... so now the topic is changing from nightbringer vs deciever.. to either god, and 2 lords... which would you take?
im thinking the two decked out lords...
-now you have 6 wounds, both count as necrons so they get the WBB roll, and are added in to effect for the phase out rule
- 3+ armor save
- the res orb...
- 4+ invul save if you add phase shifter to one of the lords..
- phylactery, so the chance to come back with 1-3 wounds instead of just the normal 1 WBB wound
- and warscythes which ingnore any saves?
- and not to mention if you charge with both lords, thats 8 attacks with no saves then...
sure the c'tan have a high as crap toughness, and strength...
so what would you all do?
This falls into the rhetorical category.
What else are you taking?
In a standard 2000 points I'd say two lords. One with a Res Orb and one with a VoD, that comes to 300 points, same as the Deciever.
I'm not going to compare the Nightbringer, IMO its way over priced. The Deciever is nifty, if its abilities work. With so many armies having above average Ld, its tough for big D's Misdirect and Decieve to work.
Two Lords add a lot of much needed support. The Res Orb is a must have and a Circus is powerful offensive and defensive tool.
I'd say this election depends also on the opponent force, on the size of your army and your style of gaming.
First of all I wouldn't reccomend neither for an army size under 2000pts; straightforward reason: too expensive.
A ctan is a good choice if you want to absorb plenty of the enemy fire as a tactic to prevent phase out. Besides, the vision of a ctan being deployed can terrorise your opponent: just take a look at its profile. Scary ain't it?
On the other hand having 2 necron lords can be helpful to your troops as there is useful wargear: Veil of Darkness (1 per army), Res Orb, phase shifter... These options help not only your lord but also units arround him.
Ctan all the way. You list 2 secked out lords as having resorbs.. but often you dont need 2 of these. The only Lord id use is a Destroyer Lord, but even then, im starting to see how he makes Wraiths worse. Deceiver all the way for me, especially now he can Run. With a Lord, you pay a lot of points for the ability to take wargear, the model itself is horrendous tbh. WS too low to fight well, not enough attacks... doesnt matter if you ignore all saves, if you cant hit in the 1st place thats a null point. The Ctan however, have worthy stats for combat and some nice abilities to boot.
