I want to make/mod my own shas'O any of you know if there is like a chart or point bases to use if say I want to incorperate weapons that do not normally go on xv8's. Also a point system to point out abilities and such for make your own "hero's"
For example, say a former pathfinder attains the commander rank and he spent the past 8 years of his life using a rail rifle (so why not incorperate that into his battle suit) so I want to make a battle suit equivilant of a rail rifle.
I figured i could use a broad side railgun piece as the rifle piece and make the weapon stats the same as a bright lance just without the lance special rule.
Does this sound like a bad idea?
Thanks in advance
Well, you could always create character Datasheets for use in Apocalypse games. That's the easiest way to get to use it if you and your friends can find agreeable rules and point costs.

A Rail Rifle/Missile Pod suit would be pretty formidable. A Bright Lance on a suit would be kind of... over the top.

My first thought was: The Plasma Rifle, it was the same Str, better AP (you could justify this as superior design, or just the benefits of mounting a larger version, say the middle ground between the rail rifle and the rail gun), shorter range (attributed to lower power supply as the suit can hardly reload the canisters easily, more compact design or just ignore it and take what you can get legally ).
As for modelling, just poke around, there are some pretty cool multi barrel conversions for crisis suits, as well as some short barrel railguns. That or scratch build. More fun and you can use your HQ against ANYONE, without the fear of being nocked back for deploying an overpowered monstrosity. We all want mega uber stompy HQ's, but its been proved that its a) not so much fun, b) rediculous.
Hopefully, with the new codex, GW will give us a Rail Rifle option on our Crisis Suits. Maybe you could send some e-mails to them, before you spend the money and labor on the conversion, they probably won't get answered, but you never know. I'm not sure what their work schedule is on releasing the new codexes, but most likely they will start with the most popular and work their way down, so the Tau should be somewhere in the middle, but I have no idea what their project labor division is, so it's highly possible that they haven't sat down at the designing table yet.

well my idea wasn't to make the suit over powered but to make it like a broadasde type sharpshooter. I figured it would be to OP with a railgun but its basically a shas'O with a "railrifle" that lacks jump packs because the power system has been redirected to advance stabalization and increase in power supply to the single weapons system.
The idea was to use something that would logically be stronger than the railrifle pathfinders and sniper drones use because the suit has access too a larger power source. So if you sacrifice the mobility of jet packs and redirect the power towards the weapon system and stabalization system then i figure the weapon should either be str6 ap3 at a greater range or 36inch with higher str and lower ap.
The whole thing is just an Idea
I had another idea to Make a Shas'O in a broadside suit since I don't see why evey single tau commander would be in an XV8. Some of them might like the XV88 model. Of coure i figure you have to rework the weapons so you don't have a twinlink railgun with bs5 cause that is just asking for trouble.
I Figured if i tried a Broadside commander unit you mount the railgun like a sniper rifle on him and on his other shoulder you put a SMS or Missle pod system.
If you could critic both idea's that would be awsome, I don't want something that Really OP I just want something that I can make look cool yet still be functioning in a game so I don't waste time building it just so I can not use it.
