Welcome to Librarium Online!
I had somewhat of an apifiny last night.
I relized that a person can use lurking and going to ground together to get a 2+ save for thier gaunts.
Basically have your gaunts in a terrain feature as close as possible to on objective, put a synapse creature 13 or 14 inches away. If someone tries to shoot the gaunts, go to ground and you're looking at a 2+ cover save. Last turn, move your synapse creature into range, and they suddenly become scoring again.
This will work especially well if the synapse creature is something cheap like a Zoey, who has a 2+ himself. Keep the gaunts between the Zoey and the bulk of your opponents forces, so he'll always get a 4+ cover himself (3+ if he goes to ground) then last turn he moves up and could probably give synapse coverage to 2 seperate squads.
Of course this stratagy will not work in all situations (flamers) but it's something to keep in mind.
I think this was already in a discussion here a few weeks ago. I believe the general consensus was lurking over-rides the ability to choose to goto ground?
Neither rule is exclusive in any way. Of course GW could FAQ it anyway they please, but with the rules as they are now, I really dont' see how a person could argue that it does not work.
Got me. I didn't follow it too closely.
at least its an option to take if things get desperate. i think if i did that all the time no one would want to play against me. but yeah it seems legal.
