Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey guys ,
I recently started playing Warhammer 40,000 , i bought the new rule book had a read through it trying to make sense of it all , really liked the Orks and so bought the Codex along with the battle force and order a Black Reach set,
Looking through the Ork Codex i decided i want to do a Speed Freak themed army, i just have a few questions i hope you could answer :
1) Wazdakka Gutsmek special rule 'Da Bike Boss' (page 96), does the Bike Squads i take count as troop choices for purposes of capturing objectives ?
2) Nobz - Nob Bikers , if i give them this option do they get the +1 to there Toughness ?
3) Nobz - Painboyz , can they also be on a bike for +25 points / can they also be given 'eavy armour ?
thanks for the help
The do get the +1 to Toughness, however note that the +1 does not factor into insta-death by a weapon w/ strength double their toughness. So their base toughness is used to determine if a weapon will casue insta death, but when your opponent roles to wound the Nob bikers he rolls on a toughness value of +1.2) Nobz - Nob Bikers , if i give them this option do they get the +1 to there Toughness ?Yes, Painboyz can be given either upgrade. Note that there is no need to give them both upgrades as the Bike grants a 4+ save already. The only upgrades a Painboy cannot be given is the weapon upgrades since he does not have a slugga/choppa to replace.3) Nobz - Painboyz , can they also be on a bike for +25 points / can they also be given 'eavy armour ?
One other thing to note, with a Warboss your Nob Bikers can also be taken as a Troop choice, but Wazdakka does not count as a Warboss for this purpose. But if you took Wazdakka and a Warboss you could take normal bikers and 1 set of Nobs as Troops.
Good luck, and welcome to the Green Side!
Monkey's Killer Kan WiP (Updated 4/29)
Everything Monkeyclops said is 100% correct. I just wanted to throw in that if you're taking nob bikers, be sure to take cybork bodies. Although there's no point in taking 'eavy armor, they don't get an invulnerable save in close combat, which is why you need cybork or else power weapons and monstrous creatures will eat them alive.
Also be sure to give them a wauugh banner, bosspole, and at least 2-3 powerklaws (no big choppas) depending on the size of the group and if you attach a warboss with a powerklaw (which you should). Give every ork unit in your army a bosspole if they can take it, and put it in the unit, not characters attached to the unit (when possible).
I'd also suggest holding the nob bikers in reserve, so they aren't shot up too much before they reach the enemy and/or claim objectives.
Welcome to the orks!
"Any job worth doing, is worth doing with a powerklaw."
if you take Gutzmek, and decide to take 2 Biker mobs, keep them small, 3-5, maybe for zooming aroun and hitting something Vunerable(tanks, artilerry, weak CC units) other than that keep them for Scoring.
And despite what i read a few weeks ag theres nothing in the 5th Edition rulebook that says bikers can't score, the only troops that can't score are vehicles, Swarming Units, and any unit that states so otherwise.
