HOLY COW!!!!! Ok, new rules here:

http://uk.games-workshop.com/40kuniverse/w...ules-update.pdf

The big thing that got me was monstrous creatures can now shoot two guns.

Sooooooooo.....

The possibilities!! A carnifex with 2 venom cannons, a hive tyrant with 2 venom cannons, a carnifex with 2 barbed stranglers, statistically ensuring one hits. The possibilities, although pricey, can help.

Thoughts, comments?

Oooo! I like the sound of that, 2 venom cannons on a carnifex... nasty indeed, very expensive though...! And since they ignore the whole Ld test for shooting they can shoot who they want when they want! very nice indeed, also does this mean I can fire a venom cannon and warp blast with my tyrant now? so it wouldnt be such a waste of points anymore... sounds very destructive indeed, but I worry about how many points ill be paying for my tmcs if i do this....

I cant wait till 4th ed. comes out my tyrant will actually be able to outnumber things now thanks to the new outnumbering rules! this means things will more likely run away (especialy when coupled with psychic scream) and with the whole new advancing after the opponent I5 tyrant should easily catch up with any fleeing units....

Dual VCannons... Nice to be sure, but how about some real firepower?

Seeding Swarm, Carnifex with dual Devourers... 8x S9 shots.

Just note that there is absolutely no reason to take the BStrangler 'Fex anymore, if You intend to use the 'Fex for primarily anti-vehicle purposes!

Models which Rapid Fire can't charge? Sure, they might decimate part of my hordes if they ever get the chance, but then they're stuck facing an assault from the probably still-numerous Tyranids... Or they lose their shots, assault and take casualties from the CC hits.

Plasmaguns in units can't fire at Tyrants and 'Fexes before the unit charges... But Meltaguns would still be nasty. Guess I can live with that. ^_^

Oh, I'm going to like these rules... Ok, so we lose the CC screen, which can be a bit of a setback, at least until the new Codex comes and hopefully slightly modifies the 'Stealers, Warriors and other medium Tyranids.

I at least am certain that it's nothing the Tyranids superior adaptation can't handle.

Do I intepret the new rules corectly? You have to take a LD test to shoot at anything that aint the closest except monstrous creatures and tanks. This is from the new rules and the nid codex sais (STBO). You can shoot at anything you want in the nids army.

They removed the CC screaning aswell meaning we get no cover at all except from woods and piles of muck on the battlfield?

What do I get in return? A HT with two VC... that is not that fun ;/

The sad part is that we have to wait for the new coxed untill everything stabelizes.

Btw are the new rules "official" now?

i do kinda like the new rules, after all i always left out a shooting phase before assault so that my BA perform like they would in the fluff anyway heh

plus my assault troops are now 6" quicker hehe

but i really do think my nids are better too, as now every army has the disadvantage of the STBO rule hehe

Uzi-99, thats the most smilies I have ever seen in my life!

These rules are going to be so awsome. We might be able to "screen" now. It could work against IG and Tau, they dont have a very high leadership.

Everyone gets their attacks within 2 inches, well, thats kinda good for the Tyranids. It doesnt help me that much. My Spinegaunts never did anything in a battle but die, my Hormagaunts already have this ability. I think that this will give the Genestealers a little more of a punch. I always found it a struggle to try to put all my Genestealers into BtB.

I play Orks right now, and you other fellow Ork players, do a Waaaagh! with me. The 2 inch rules are going to rock, they pretty much double our attacks!

Maybe the Tau, but IG? I have a rerollable LD of 9 (10 with my commissar)with my company standard. How is this low?

The great thing is that my Heavy Weapons Squads should be able to pick any target they like now, especially since I keep them right next to my Command Squad.

Maybe scythe-gaunts won't need leaping anymore (unless the wording extends their threat range by 2")
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
