Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm fielding a maxed out sqad of Flayed ones for the first time tomorrow and I'm just curious as to which would be the most effective way to deploy Flayed Ones - Anybody have good/bad luck with any certain type of deployment?
I always infiltrate them somewhere infront of my army or covering a flank.
Deepstriking might be slightly better in 5th as you can now run after DSing but I still won't do it, just too risky when there are more reliable things they can do.
I've used the flanking thing and it was quite cool, but it'll only really work if the enemy is near the edges. I was lucky and had Dark Eldar within charge range of both short edges of the table. I wouldn't bother using this much though as I like to keep my army relatively together so that I can support a unit that might get in trouble.
Standard deployment just sounds silly for a squad that can infiltrate, why show your enemy where they're going to be (if you're deploying first).

I agree with above. I personally infiltrate somewhere just ahead of my tomb spyders, but so deep in cover they usually can't be seen/shot at. Then as I move my tomb spyders out to assault, I join my flayed ones with that group to give them more punch. I've tried outflank but my opponent was more on one side of the table and my flayed ones came in pretty much all alone, took all game to get an encounter
And yes, Flayed ones are just sub par CC units. Compared to REAL CC units, you will die a horrible death. I usually keep them near by tomb spyders since they are fun and the chance of them failing a leadership test is nice but not awsome! I truely wish they were a better CC unit.

I deploy them by not using them and not owning any because, unless they get reworked, they're one of the worst all CC units in the game. Especially with the sheer number of fearless units now that negate what was meant to be an advantage.
Love the character they bring and I tend to use they on weaker units, like another scout troop. (I always infiltrate)
Hated painting them though! Is it flesh or is it metal... flesh or metal...
oh, and 1st post w00tage!
Sometimes I consider what might make flayed ones better, but then I remember all the special rules they have already for only 18 points in an elites choice and usually figure that they don't need improving. They certainly have their uses, keep them in the phalanx and you have an intimidating screening/counter charge unit, infiltrate them and you have an early threat for non-CC armies like Tau and IG, deepstrike...well, deepstriking CC only infantry never seems like a good idea to me, but I suppose it might work in some situations like surprising a devastator squad (assuming they don't have line of sight and blow them all away first).
So this past weekend I played in a 1750pt RTT with a group of 10 Flayed Ones that I infiltrated on 3 games (Nids, Nids, Tau) Against genestealers my FOs did suprisingly well (being in cover is a great protection against those 4-armed freaks). But against Tau I was hoping for a slaughter... I had my group sneaking around the corner of a building to take out a group of guys with markerlights but a transport zoomed up, dropped off 10 firewarriors and blasted the entire group to pieces. They all fell so I didn't even get a chance for WBB rolls
