i was thinking it would be fun to have a cc tau army. you would use 2 o'shovahs and 2 bodyguards with TL PR and a SG and ork fighter on each o'shovah and then 9 crisis with TL PR and one bodyguard in each and the bodyguard with a SG and every crisis with ork fighter. then 12 FWs for requirement and then 3 broadsides with TL PR and SGs and target lock and ork fighter and just go shoot the guys with the PRs and o'shovahs need 2+ and the others need 4+ but TL and then charge and o'hovah has WS 5, S5 and doesnt allow armor saves so he owns and then the bodyguards would have WS4 and I4 and the rest would have WS3 I3 and you wouldnt be that bad b/c of their nice high strength and not bad toughness and a 3+ save and for strong guys you have the SG for the invulnerable saves so i think it would be pretty fun to try out and play.

I see one problem THERE IS ONLY ONE O' SHOVAH, FLUFF-WISE ANYWAY. O'SHOVAH DOES ROCK THOUGH. I HAVE EASILY DISPATCHED TERMINAOTR SQUADS WITH HIM, BUT I LIKE THEMED ARMIES, SO UNLEESS O;SHOVAH CLONES HIMSELF I;LL STICK WITH JUST ONE
First of all, evil_blue)tau, learn to turn the capslock off. It will do wonders! People will no longer look at you as an idiot, I promise.
There has been a thread like this, if you had used the search function, you would have found it. However, since you've gone ahead and posted, close combat Tau armies just don't work.

Wait, you mean that optimism isn't fashionable anymore?!
Lord of Smart-ass Youthimizzles.
Soup's up, bitches!
The only way this could work was if you were facing up against a mass Grot army, or someone who takes Ratlings for their *superb* close combat skills. Dont forget, no matter how much CC you put into your elite and HQ, you still have that ever useless in CC Fire Warrior Squad, aswell as some of the most powerful weaponry in the WH40k Universe at your finger-tips. The point in making a CC Tau army? Zero. The battles you will win? Zero.
We all know Tau close combat doesn't work, but at least he hasn't invented some super Tau that eats archons for breakfast.
Making guys go into CC will diminish the possible LOS for your Railguns. Dont forget, Railguns are the most powerful single piece of weaponry in the game. Dont negate it in anyway, and try and exploit your firepower as much as possible
