Figured I'd start a thread for discussing whats happening in the Hurt/Heal thread or it will get all cluttered with chatter. Only thing I've really got to say so far though is that the halrequins seem to have equal supporters and detractors which surprises me and alot of people seem to be pulling in the same direction on some ideas which I think is doing a brilliant job at highlighting the good ones and the bad.
All in all a good idea there with that thread Krovin-Rezh.
I like the ideas in general the only one i don't really like is the one about rangers how would they be justified?
I would be perfectly content to keep the codex as it is though and get new minitures but if we do get the pistol & ccw option for warriors then Iwould be over the moon.
Suggestion take the big guns away from scourges give them jetpack rules and allow them to have close combat weapons and i would be voting for it as well as quite a few others I know.
Thank you, karantalsis. I hope it gives everyone a better way to present these kinds of ideas and get feedback.
Edit: I noticed your addition of the 12" assault 2 hellglaives. Wouldn't this be redundant? The rules for the Hellglaive say it can be fired and used for assaults in the same turn.
Hi Triphinius. Here is an excerpt about the Rangers. "Although they adopt a nomadic lifestyle to escape the rigours of the Eldar path, most Outcasts remain loyal to their craftworlds and traditions... Some fall from grace and become consumed by their dark passions..." It also says they search for lost webway gates, among other things. This means they would probably have some contact with their dark kin. For the ones that fall into dark tendencies, that appears to coincide with the Pathfinder rules, for they are permanent exiles. So it's definitely a possibility that those particular rangers would become Dark Eldar, perhaps as an Elites or Heavy Support choice instead of Troops.

I too am surprised at the mediocre enthusiasm about Harlequins... maybe its just because i find them so damn cool. Awesome models, brilliant fluff... plus something about the Laughing God just makes me feel like they're depraved killer space clowns, not your run of the mill court jesters.
I never even thought about the Ranger thing before, well put Krovin. I remember that excerpt from the Eldar codex now, it makes more sense.
What I REALLY want to see is either new rules regarding DE speed (though I don't think letting our skimmers go faster is necessarily the answer). Perhaps something more manueverability-wise? Maybe something like: A DE skimmer only has to move 6" to claim a 4+ cover save, or go at least 12" (rather than over 12").
It bugs me that the Orks can actually transport infantry better than us with their red paint job...
That's an interesting idea. Maybe DE skimmers should only move up to 18" flat out, but get a 6" "agility" move in the assault phase?
The only problem with that is that you ll see JSJ Raiders and Ravagers . While kinda fluffy (striking from shadows) , I don't think its in theme with the general Dark Eldar army (hard, focused strikes, etc).
'Tis cool though. I also think Reavers should definitely get Rending/ impact hits, or some sort of upgrade as seeing EVERY OTHER ARMY now has our turbo boost, but better armor saves. It's nice to finally get the Eldar Jetbike rule, but it's not capturing their wild ferocity for me.
Also, I kinda hope that stupid Combat Drug Fearless rule goes.
As tot he hellglaives rule it says they can be used as a shooting and an assault weapon in the same turn. It doesn't say they can assault after being fired as they are rapid fire weapons. Yeah its stupid, but its the result of an old codex, this has been clarified many times. If there was a way to fire your gun and get assaulted in one turn then the rule would be relevant as it is the rule abou tbeing able to be used as both is a wepaon rule not a unit special rule and as such merley allows the weapon to be used as a gun and a close combat weapon if you can somehow get into closecombat the same turn you fire it.
So yeah. Hellions can't assault after firing as they have no exception from the standard rapid fire rules, hence my suggestion.
Wea also have our first 3 Accepted ideas:
Scourges Use Jet Pack rules
Hellions Surprise Attack: may assault the turn they deep strike into play
Gruesome Talismans give -1 Ld to any unit the model is engaged with
You know, for a long time I have only ever wanted a new viable troop choice for Dark Eldar and just to fix the existing units – no Harlequins, no more crazy weapons or anything like that.
But at the same time I had no idea as to what a new troop type could possibly be, especially since Warriors are so good as they are now, finding anything remotely as useful as them would be a task indeed.
It’s then I spied this quote by Karantalsis –
“Mandrakes: Changed to a 0-1 Troops choice, Rending in close combat for +2 pts per model.”
This has got to be the best solution that I have ever seen for another troop choice for us. Just imagine having that valuable scoring asset being held back voluntarily until turn 3 every game with no unpredictable dice roll interfering with your tactics, this is absolutely priceless! Pity its only a wish and not reality.
Still, if we all wish hard enough………
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
That would be nice wicky. You could say the same thing for Scourges or Hellions in my opinion. Having either of those as troop choices would make them a nice complement to our warrior squads, even with the rules they currently have. I think I like the Mandrakes for this a little better though, as they are just more interesting & fun to play.
Btw, are we giving mandrakes 2+ or 3+ cover saves in woods & jungles? The shadow-skinned rule now contradicts itself in 5th where that type of cover has been bumped up to 4+ from 5+. I've been playing with 2+ cover saves, but I want to make sure that's not being too generous.
