for combat patrol missions eldar players can only use worlocks for HQ. Beacuase you are not allowed to use special charchters and units whith more than 2 wounds any other HQ you think Eldar plyers should be allowed to have?
You don't need an HQ for combat patrol. In addition, warlocks are not a stand-alone choice. They must be taken as a squad upgrade or as a retinue for farseers.
I´m sorry there I read wrong in the rule book and i know that warlock aint a stand-alone choice.
Also this has been discussed before but the warlocks that are purchased because you have a Farseer in your army are not a retinue. Your Farseer may join them or the unit can stand alone. Just throwin it out there.

Combat Patrol rules do (or did, at any rate) state that some rules (gives examples of rules similar to this) may be ignored for the purposes of playing Combat Patrol, such as unit limitations (such as an Imperial Guard Armoured Fist squad needing an Infantry Platoon to be taken as a choice; you can ignore that rule for CP). A squad of Warlocks would be another rule that I could see being ignored for the purposes of CP.
The question you have to ask, though, is if it would be worth it or not, and I say no. The squad is much too expensive for the CP rules, even a 500 point CP, and I'd rather place the points elsewhere.
You cant have a farseer in a cp army cuase it has 3 wounds.
edit: Just realised you are the OP, so I'm not sure what your post is referring to.
