After 5th Edition, What state are we in?

Well I have been taking a break from 40k, due to 5th edition, and, I am returning to wonder how we fared afterwards. What are eldar like? Is the playstyle the same? Whats changed? Will my 4 grav tank army still be viable?

Etc, generally what has happened to us =)

    Thanks in advance

If your grav tanks are falcons then yes you have suffered slightly. Still as hard as nails but no longer gun boats.

I think eldar are right down the middle in how we fared. We lost some stuff like super powered falcons and harlie squads that could wipe a ten man squad of marines out in one turn. Those have suffered some but overall I think some of the things we get back are even better.

Cover saves. You get practically cover saves for everything. Whereas before units could get I think more easily singled out and eliminated you have more options ow for using cover or other units to provide cover to keep your troopers alive so they can get to their destinations. My banshees using cover or a vehicle like a waveserpent that shoots up the field 24" gets its 4+ cover save and since I fortuned it now has a reroll stands the fire of an entire imperial guard force only to watch as next turn the banshees disgorge and engage multiple units and kill oh so many guardsmen. The cover saves for our vehicles, for our troops, for our wraithlords ( a small jetbike squad can provide a solid moveable wall to protect a wraithlord or two).

Troop choices are scoring. We have some of the best troop choices around to pick from. We have more options than most and they are varied, take a ranger squad to watch over the objective at home, take DAs in waveserpents to claim objectives, take huge guardian squads if you want to go the horde route. Take bikes for quick capture of objectives.

Vehicles in general got stouter. Ours not being the most heavily armoured variety have the potential to get knocked around a little bit more. Since they are not scoring no longer can they be the focus but they can contest so you can really annoy your enemy.

Thats just a couple things I have seen. Hope you enjoy playing.
