I'm looking through the Ork Codex and I see that Boyz have the option to upgrade their Slugga and Choppa to a Shoota for free... thats and extra 6" and 1 shot for free! ...why wouldn't anyone want this?
Do the Slugga and Choppa allow for 3 or even 4 attacks vs. the standard 2 attacks noted in the profile? It's the only thing that makes sense but in the rulebook it says that normal close combat weapons don't confer any particular bonus to the model using them.
Whats the benefit of going with the lesser of 2 guns?
Edit: HAHAHA n00n... whups

Well the shootas are good since you combine range and CC but I think that Sluggas and Choppas are better because Orks excel in CC.
"They say the Darkness consumes you. They don't say what happens after It's done."
so..... do they get the extra attack because of the slugga and choppa?
Slugga/Choppa counts as two close combat weapons, which confers an additional close combat attack. Shoota is a two-handed weapon, so you don't get a bonus attack with it. Both definitely have their uses (think about it like this - a mob of 30 Shoota Boyz has a lot of shots, but a mob of 30 Slugga Boyz has a lot of close combat attacks, 30 extra).
Cool, thanks! I just wasn't sure about that additional attack thing
Yep, an ideal slugga mob on the charge could dish out 120 attacks, 4 of them Power Klaw (always take the PK).
Two's to kill. Ahh, sweet sweet music.
