Generally, how many squads of troops does everyone take in their army list? For a while, my friends and I have just been playing until the opponent has no pieces left or gives up to learn what pieces we like and dont like ( 1500pts through proxying with extra bases and such ). Since only troops can take objectives I'm thinking I may need more than just my two DA squads.
Any advice would be helpful. Curious as to what others do.
I typically field 5 squads of Troops in 1500 & 2000 point games--my typical layout looks like this:
120 points-5 Rangers w/ Pathfinders (the new sniper rules make them fairly effective at killing stuff, and they are perfect for holding an objective on your side of the table--only way you're killing this squad is with really bad rolls on cover saves or assaults)
177 points each-2x squads of 10 Dire Avengers w/ exarch who has PW/Shield, Defend, and Bladestorm (these are my utility squads, they go out and take what I need--the shield + defend makes it so they can survive a turn or two in CC so I can send one of my CC units to assist. Bladestorm is just fun )
-120 to 170 points each- 1x-2x squads of 12 or 15 Guardians, equipped w/ a EML or a Scatterlaser, plus a warlock w/ a spear and the spiritseer rule (I like Wraithlords, which is why the locks are there--you don't need Conceal w/ the new cover rules, too expensive, I usually take the locks w/ no powers or with Embolden)
5th? Cool. WotLK? Also cool.
