Welcome to Librarium Online!
i havent managed to scrape together enough money for the new rule book (being a student sucks, especially with accomadation being so expensive). Am i wrong that a transport can now be bought for 1 unit and transport another? If this is possible could 1 unit start a game aboard another units transport?
For example, you take a minimal raider sniper squad, 5 warriors with dark lance and a raider with dark lance, with a raider now more survivable that extra 5pts over a regular 10man 2 dark lance sniper squad is definitely worthwhile when you consider the extra benifit of the mobility of the raider.
you have also taken a 10man warrior squad with sybarite, agoniser with 2 blaster/shredders and 2 splinter cannon. Forced to walk theres a good chance they will get shot up before they do anything.
With the warrior squad starting aboard the raider and the sniper squad elsewhere you now have a nasty "driveby" unit dishing out lots of shots.
is this legal?
also under the new rules are shredders a viable alternative to the blaster?
Yes it is possible
No you can not deploy the transport with another unit already aboard. You can deploy the empty transport next to another unit and on the movement phase simply embark the unit and zoom off with the transport.
(WH40K) Dark Eldar - (12,000pts) Sisters of Battle - (5000pts) Dark Angels -(3500pts) (WHFB) Dark Elves - (10,000pts) Beastmen - (5000pts) Empire - (3000pts) Wood Elves - (1500pts)
Indeed sir, this sneaky move is known as the SUPER GUNBOAT, courtesy of some slick silver tongued Archons here on LO. Just remember to drop the 5 warriors with Dark Lance into cover or some safe area.
Also remember to optimize for shooting... many would tell you to drop the agoniser on the Syrabite. I would as well... they should be shooting, and the big sink on the Agoniser can rack up in multiple squads. I would personally go with Poison Blades if anything.
I would disagree with darkspawn on this point. I like my raiders to have a good CC punch as well as they have a tendency to reach combat during the game at some point and I would like to be able to do damage if this need does arise so I always give mine agonisers. It is 15 more points and I feel the difference is definitely worthwhile.
Dear Game Developer,Caps-Lock, its like cruise-control for AWESOMENESS!
Rock is cheese, Paper is just fine
WWP and other Dark Eldar how to
Well i just came back from my first 5 Games in 5th Edition, and I would have not been a good DE, if I hadn't tryed out the Super Gun boat. And I have to say, they are awsome. XD
I played the squad with a Sybarith w/ agoniser & grenades, and the 10 managed to kill 3 grey knight squads, with 5 grey knights each. and that wasn't all, they had killed the tyranid artillerie in round 2, and managed to reach the last mission marker in round 5.
They are good to go against anyone. Sadly i only played 2 XD
My higlight, even tought there where no super gun boats involved, when I managed to bind 5 Imperial Squads with 3 of my squads(Dracon, with 5 Inccubi, 6 Hagashin, 5 grotesques and one heami), so it was 18 against about 45 Imperial soldiers.
They all died in the first round of combat and i didn't have any loses. That just rocked.
So I realy have to say. Super Gunboat, are my favorith troop choice.
I would very much agree with Splata. You need the Agonisers on your gunboat Sybarites, although they cost more than 15 points to add (20 + 6 for the character). The best way to play gunboats in my experience is to drop them into cover, shoot, and then pack them up again in the next turn. To keep the unit on the Raider the whole time is to invite them to be part of a barbeque. Raiders are not really any more survivable in 5th edition than they have been in the past, and chances are your squad will end up footing it with enemies around sooner or later.
On to the question of Shredders, it really depends on which armies you face most often. They can be really good against Orks, Guardsmen, Tau, and Tyranids, but will be far less effective than Blasters against 3+ armor. The Blaster has less potential since it only hits one model, but it is still the better choice because:
1. It is very predictable. You can count on two killing a model on average every turn they fire.
2. It allows DE to make their enemies fear for their vehicles like very few armies can.
3. It's a really awesome gun for a rock-bottom cost in points. The Shredder typically costs twice as much.
It's just a different name for wyches for some reason the name varies in codicies from different countries.
I am pretty sure that it means 'Wych' in German.
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
Yep, Hagashin is Wych in the German Codex. I actually think that it sounds better in German.
"Is Archon Braigh-Dee going to have to choke a Wych?
