Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm a veteran IG player and Im tired of the stand and shoot type of army. Im thinking of switching to Nids. The more dynamic assualt based army looks interesting. I dont have a lot of time to paint, so I'm not interested in 200 model swarm armies. Can i build a competive list with a low to medium model count?
The nidzilla list looks interesting but seems like people with tanks or fast infantry could run circles around an army with no vehicles and no models with 12" movement. How do you engage the enemy and keep the mfrom runnning? It also seems low on troops which is bad news in 5th edition.
Is there a competitive list/strategy with a 1750pt list around 50-75 models?
Nidzilla lists usually have a few bs/vc beasts. So you do have ranged ability to stop tanks/fliers. You just have to close and take those out in melee.
Not going to go into strategy but a few fast overall rules for nids:
- cover, cover, cover! Cover is almost always better than our armor saves.
- flying dakka-tyrant rules
- you need synapse cover in order to capture points effectivly
I'm slowly building up a similiar list, though I've only used the 1000 pts version, but my 1500 one looks like this:
1 tyrant with 3 tyrant guard
The basic strat is similiar to nidzilla, but all the stealers have scuttlers so they can outflank and don't have to start on the board. It actually works decently well, my opponents need to keep lots of things in mind when setting up; they need to spread the squads out as I use barbed stranglers, but doing that makes the squads get closer to the board edges. They also need to watch area terrain for lictors.
On the movement part the flyrant moves alot and genestealers are fleet. Unless you are fighting land raiders or the like lictors are actually very good tank killers. One other thing I've found is that since genestealers don't need synapse they work well with the list because they can be far from my tyrants and still capture.
