Support Weapon Battery
War Walker Squadron
I like to mix and match with.....
I don't need heavy support to win!!!
Hey everyone seeing as there is a trend going around I thought I would add to it. The thread, as the title supports, is meant for people to share their views on what heavy support option they like to use the most. I don't want people to use this as a way to burn on other options just give reasons on why you like what you use.
I personally like a pair of fire prisms. Together these can be hugely devestating. Popping high AV vehicles and taking out squads ranging from termies to larger squads like 'boys, and other horde armies. I am also a fan of Dark Reapers, there is nothing better than seeing an opponents face as you drop a no cover template from 36in.
I don't generally use these units together because of the range of the prisms.

That one was tough, because I think each of our heavy support options functions so differently it's hard to make an apples to apples comparison. I voted Fire Prism because it's been one of my most consistently reliable options, and once I get a bit of cash I plan on getting a second one for some twin-linked marine killing pie plates. However I also love my wraithlord, it can be very versatile, as either an impassable speedbump against S4 armies, or some handy anti-tank and always a huge fire magnet.
I generally run a support platform group or two and then prisms for the remaining spots, though the vibro cannons have been staying home alot more lately.
I have been using my falcon for quite some time and even with the change to 5th ed have not given up on it and has provided good results. I have just started using fire prism and in their first tourhnament outing were very good some I will say I mix and match as I am using the fireprisms and falcon right now but eventuallys it may turn out to be just fire prisms but I do like that troop transport capability to get a small unit of troops around if needed to that all important objective.

I use a combination of Falcons and War Walkers. War Walkers provide long ranged, multi-purpose fire support with their EMLs and Falcons ferry along Fire Dragons for added anti-tank punch.
I can definitely see Fire Prisms gaining popularity though. Fielding two of them bare bones is a fairly economical option capable of handling nearly any unit in the game, and the higher BS with new blast rules means good things.
I think you need to spend more time on your floor.
2500 Black Templars
My vote is for reapers overall.Eldar have ltos of very powerful anti tank weapons spread across quite a few platforms and reapers provide the one thing that the rest of the list lacks - dedicated marine killing power via shooting. Sure you could doom + guide some avengers, but that is one hell of a pricy combo for a unit that will only kill about 7-8 marines.Guide a reaper unit and it becomes a squad that will flatten anything that gets within its sights.
I tend to mix it up depending if i know what im fighting or not.
I use 3 vibro cannons vs most stuff but i also use walkers and fire prisms.
I dont own any reapers so cant comment, on paper they look awesome vs MEQ
I voted Fire Prism due to the versatility/points and it's nice long range. Though I enjoy wraithlords and dark reapers as well. The ability of a unit to be useful after serving it's primary purpose (tank-busting primarily on a prism) is a really great option to have.
I tend to usually use two wraithlords, and therefore voted for them but I have used all the heavy support options on occassion. I agree with Alzer, I like multifunction units so the wraithlords heavy wepons serve as part of my AT and it can also support my firebase in CC.

I tend to like volume of fire so i like 3 Warwalkers with Scatter Lasers
(I think this is the best set up for Warwalkers in their latest codex)
Then in larger point games i second the usefulness of Fire Prisms.
1) Warwalkers in above config.
2) Fire Prisms
3) Wraithlords - you can't deny the efficiency of Wraithlords in 500-1000pts games
