I am down two flying bases through a few very sad turn of events. Of my question is, would you play against an opponet who had a normal large base with the peg in it as a flying base? I cheaked the sizes, and a normal large base is the same size. So...would you?

Assuming this is a base for a skimmer I wouldn't worry as all measurements are to the vehicle hull or weapons, the base doesn't matter.
This is an easy question. The simple answer is yeah sure! Anything that needs a flying base is measured to the model itself and not the base. If you'd like a comparison here's one for you: Space Marine Bike, all measurements are made to the model not the base seeing as there actually is no base. Jetbikes and skimmers follow the same reasoning and thus why the base is clear. It's like it never existed! Jetbikes were only given big bases to help them from toppling over, it is perfectly acceptable to use smaller bases. (the small flying bases fit nicely on the inside of the Jetbikes' chassis) As for the big skimmers, don't worry too much about it in friendly games but in tourneys they will most likely make you put them on suitable flying bases just to have them floating.
