OK, first off this (not mine) is awesome http://www.coolminiornot.com/pics/pi...ea7316ac25.jpg .
Secondly, it has inspired me to mount a smartmissile system on a heavy gun drone, and model it as a floating weapons platform with targets 'designated' by the battlesuit pilot the platform is linked with.
This will be based on the same base as the Crisis suit and counts as a single crisis Deathrain suit, it is purely aesthetic.
My main question is - do you think it is fluffy that the Earth caste would seek to detach weapons from battlesuits, while keeping them networked? My reasoning is that a hit on the missiles could be catastrohpic if they were stored inside an attached unit on the suit, whereas a fast wireless link and rudimentary Ai firecontrol system on a floating platform, still slaved to the Suits lock on's would remove the risk of exploding ammo from a direct hit by making the weapon a detached unit...
Your thought please my good sirs.
Sounds like a spiffy idea. I think it would work well as a "counts as" Deathrain.

Imperial Armour Apocalypse actually mentions something along these lines in the Tau section. It's called a technical drone or something close don't remember for sure.
40k fluff is not my forte, but it seems like a logical thing to do to avoid having your suit explode because someone hit your missile supply. I don't think I'll be doing this as I love the look of our shoulder mounter missile pods but kudos for an interesting idea.
Why did the chicken cross the road?
For the greater good.
In real life i've seen what happens if the ammo supply gets hit and catches fire on a tank. Modern tanks have ammo in its own area so that its doesn't kill the crew if it explodes. All the same that the tank is toast but the crew is fine.
Army's used: Space Wolves, Tomb Kings, High Elves, Tyranids, Tau and Eldar.
