Welcome to Librarium Online!
hey all. i'm thinking of experementing with hellions in some of my 40k games. from what i've gatherd, they can be pritty effective on the battlefield if used proparly(lol, as with all our units!). i was just wondering if many others use them, and if so, what tactics do they find works well? i was thinking of using a unit of about 7 or 8 with balster and succubus with agoniser (174pts for a unit of 7) or punisher and tormenter helm. i'm also thinking of trying out the xenospasm, but i rekon it'd be a bit too expencive to have it with the usual combat weps!
since i'm too cheap, i'm guna convert them myself from regualr warriors/wyches with skybords made out of plasticard + greenstuff. i don't think it'd be too hard to pull off and should look great once it's finished! one of the main reasons i wana try them out, is i like to be diferent(hence the reason i starded playingg DE!) and not too many people use them, compared to the more commenly used units, i.e raider squads, wyches, ravagers, etc
Dark Eldar: 9/1/2 Winning streak: 6
Tyranids: 16/3/4 Winning Streak: 8
inquisition:4/0/3 Winning streak:0
Personally I go for punisher/T helm combo and don't particularly bother with any special weapons, though a blaster is handy if you have the spare points.
I use 5-10 depending on points the boss has agonizer and pistol no specil weapons as they are used to hunt dev squads or eqvilant, there deep strike and hit'n'run are very useful.
A small squad of 3, one of which has a Blaster.
Deepstrike them for a lucky shot against armour.
That is the only tactic that I would entertain due to their high points cost.
If it works then your opponent will have no chance to counter this but if it doesn’t work then you can kiss that unit goodbye as it wont survive the return fire.
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
I have been thinking of giving them SCs, deep striking and taking out a big squads unit strength to help with assaults or pinning/panic checks (orks in particular), but it isn't worth it when you could take another ravager or talos instead. If they weren't a heavy choice I would definitely consider using them even if they are expensive
Haha oh boy, I was thinking of this later and I was like "maybe I can edit it before anyone can see"
Anyways, I still hold by what I said minus the heavy part
It's going to be a good day...
I have only ever used hellions as a tag team thing against penetant engines and Beserkers where they have to follow your units around all the time... I haven't really used them in any other way.
Scourges might have been a good choice to DS like that except that they cost so so many points, a ravager and a half worth. Good for KP's I guess.... all I can say really... Give me 2 warrior squads with SC's any day!
Hence basically I agree with you.
Dear Game Developer,Caps-Lock, its like cruise-control for AWESOMENESS!
Rock is cheese, Paper is just fine
WWP and other Dark Eldar how to
I've been thinking about putting some hellions in my kabal too but have read a lot of disparaging stuff about them. The thing that nobody's seemed to mention though is the codex update that gave them punishers instead of hellglaives. Does this not make them a more attractive option? Coz personally I'd like to see what a squad with jump packs, hit'n'run and S5 attacks with no armour save allowed can do.
Is this update not valid anymore for some reason I don't know about? Or do you guys just feel they're still not worth the points?
Sorry if I'm being a total noob here people
