Welcome to Librarium Online!
The threadd I am writing is something like the best actions of best model you can remember - I am writing it now to find out which Eldarite units are lucky/bitter/determined on field of battle when others are fighting. I am writing it now, because of two of mine...
1. Dire Avengers - their transport cracked in Assault on the other side of table, yet none diead. They began to rush for objective. They faced almost-assaulting Daemon Prince of Tzeench which they almost shred with Catapults and then EXarch finished it off in Assault, moved further under heavy fire of Thousand Son Marines (7) and managed to kill them in bladestorm and then got charged by 5 Raptors... to beat the opponent and wipe them out! Two of them and Exarch got into building occupied by single Obliterator. It fired it's twin-linked flamer, and killed two of them, unfortunetaly including Exarch. Then the last one fired, and managed to cause one wound. As there was still one more turn his only chance was to try to cause a wound in melee... and tuhs he did after charge! By end of battle the single Noble Avenger stood firmly, battle standard carried to the top of building winning my game because my home objective was contested due to major Chaos assault!
2. Wave Serpent - this was the present one. It's twin-linked missile launchers causing death. On the very first turn it fired at Devilfish with Fire Warriors and brought it down, 2 Warriors dead in process, then it fired at packed Kroot, halving unit and sending it fleeing! Later on, it fired directly at front of Hammerhead - and caused an explosion with single hit! But the best was to come, as it unloaded it's payload at turn four and found side Armour of indestructable-so-far allied IG Leman Russ and managed to blast it from half of battlefield.
I am really proud of these two units. And they are such in many battles, never letting me down. What about your combat elites?
Farseers, just Farseers... The way they can change the outcome of the entire battle is amazing... Besides that, pretty much everything in my army performes well, since I always use redundancy and amazing speed...
One thing that works miracles though is a 12 jetikes including 4 cannons, accompagnied by a warlock with singing spear and conceal, and then along with a farseer on a jetbike, fortune and some other power... of course also with a singing spear. Hell of price tag, but 3+ re-rollable saves or 5+ (at least) re-rollable cover saves tend to work miracles, and reinforced with doom, their shooting can pack one hell of a punch... Again, redundancy is key, and I work to annihalate one unit at a time, the bikes leave like 3 or so alive, and the 4 heavily packed vypers in the back can easily finish them...
There was one game I was playing where my fire prism did me proud. Within the first turn, it had its main weapon destroyed and was shaken as well. Instead of leaving it to die, I decided to go mad and rush it towards the static Tau. Since most units couldn't cause it any actual damage, it rushed past several units, heading towards a Hammerhead. It didn't manage to skim its way out of my Fire Prism and smashed into it's side armour. As I had moved as far as possible, I caused a massive full strngth hit. The Hammerhead tried to save itself but my opponent was unlucky as I rolled a 5 on the chart. Take that Ion Cannon Hammerhead!
I lost in the end, but my Fire Prism served me well. The same tactic didn't work however aginst my regular Ork opponent. He power klawed it to death and it exploded. At least it took 4 Orks with it!
My Farseer and my Scorpions regularly tip the scales in my favor.
In 3ED my warp spiders killed almost an entire IG army by themselves...They went up the flank, popped rear armor of tanks then charged a unit (to hide mostly from counter-fire but they did break a couple units in H2H). Then they'd withdraw and repeat.
I had 4 and an exarch left at the end of the game, but they did the lion's share of the damage. In fact, the rest of my army really just soaked shots until the spiders cleaned up!
"Orcs are what happens when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles grow old and bitter."
Prince Yriel has to be one of the best special characters in the game! I swear.
I play my bro's Necron and orkss, and Yriel himself has taken out such quantities of the armies it is hard to fathom. The Eye, the Spear, the man. He's just incredible. The fluff is also awesome, which always sends a tingle up my spine.
Dire Avengers I do love as well; many a time they have wasted an orks squad with bladestorm and finished them in CC.
