Welcome to Librarium Online!
This has already probably been debated to death, but I finally got my hands on an old copy of the Necron codex, saw some things and put two and two together. I know this won't be the most effective use of points or necron lords, but please, bear with me.
As we all know, Pariahs make enemies have leadership 7. The gaze of flame reduces enemy leadership, so does this mean that a unit fighting a necron lord with GoF and within range of a Pariah unit has leadership 6? Basically I'm wondering whether you would subtract the leadership from GoF before or after you applied the Pariah's special rule.
Second, are the effects of GoF cumulative? In laymans terms, if I were to field two Necron lords with GoF and they both got into close combat, would the leadership modifier to the enemy unit be -1 or -2?
I simply think that it would be very nasty to have a unit of flayed ones lead by TWO necron lords with GoF and supported by Pariahs, making their enemies take leadership checks and checks against that nasty flayed one rule at ld5. Hardly practical, very expensive, but cool to think about.
My gaming group's new motto: That army you're using is overpowered because it hurts my guys, codex is broken and needs a rewrite.
Yes the GOF and the pariahs Soulless do stack, as GoF says "in addition to any other modifiers".
I would say the 2 GOFs wouldn't stack though. I think its highly debatable though, the wording is ambiguous like quite a few things in the codex. Fluff wise it would make sense to stack as there's 2 scary lords. I wouldn't like to spend so many points in one place like that as its probably guaranteed to go spectacularly wrong, especially facing fearless armys.

Been here nearly 10 years and still haven't managed 500 posts.
well, yeah with 30 necrons in 2000 points... i hell off wanna see that happen.
seriously, that is kind of cool but practically useless. you are paying at least 500 points for 7 necrons (5 prariah 5 flayed ones, two lords with just gaze).
it also has too many elements that require each other to work.
your opponent just has to gun down either the pariahs or the flayed ones.
it's also useless against fearless units, which almost every army nowadays posesses.
Actually... no, it would still be useful against fearless units if you stuck some Flayed Ones in there. The Flayed One special Ability is a LEADERSHIP test, which to my knowledge isn't covered by Fearless at all (just Morale and Pinning). Testing against a Leadership 5 is nothing to sneeze at when it could make Orks only hit on a 6.
I'll have to try this build next game, for the sake of experimentation, lol.
lol, please do! I wanna know how this goes! In my opinion it's very impractical, but I think it would be really fun if you could pull it off!
And I can think of two armies off the top of my head that that list would have some pain running against: Tyranids and Chaos Daemons. Both of them are Fearless (or damn close in the case of 'Nids) and both of them are pretty good at going up and raping in CC, which is a sore spot to Necrons in 5th. Also you're unlikely to see a CSM player without a few fearless units running around.
Overall I think it would be interesting to see another armies take on a fear/psychic Choir list, but you need to know your enemy before you use it, just like with Psychic Choir. If you do use it though let us know how it turn out though.
