I was wondering if anyone thought putting a warlock with enhance in a squad of defenders would work?
i think it should. as long as you keep them in cover most of the time, it will give them the edge in CC.
the main problem i have with guardians, and im sure others have as well, is the fact that if you want to shoot with all your guardians , you have to have to have them in assault range to do it. so i thought if i gave them enhance, they would enjoy the better than average initiative the rest of our army enjoys and a SM weapon skill as well. what do you think?
It does help marginally but in my experience not enough. Either your going to fight something like gaunts/IG where your shuriken fire will sweep them away and you won't use enhance or your going to end up fighting marines or better and their going to kick you around whether you have it or not.
It can be handy on storm guardians as they can make a difference with the extra attacks and they want to be in melee anyway, but for defender squads I'd stick with the classics of conceal or embolden.

Enhance is only really useful in a seer council, to really beef up their combat prowess.
For defenders, give them conceal! You want to keep that heavy weapon firing for as long as possible, so keeping them alive for longer is key!
For storms, either give them destructor is you are going for flaming goodness in the squad (2 flamers and a heavy flamer equiv. is awesome), or embolden if theres no Avatar nearby to keep them in the fight!

I haven't ever ran enhanced defenders, but I run dark eldar and the warlock puts you roughly in line with their melee stats and trust me, don't. Dark Eldar warriors hold their own in close combat only thanks to the hidden agonizer, which is a power weeapon. As the warlocks only have witchblades, guardians won't hold their own.
Everything I have told you, even this, is a lie.
My first post in a long time...
Enhancing Guardian Defenders isn't points efficient. Enhance is tied for the most expensive warlock power; those points would be better spent on a better heavy weapon or more guardians.
I'm still in fourth edition, so my guardians run with conceal and an EML, or scatter laser or starcannon. They are basically a moble weapons platform with a permanent cover save, 10 wounds and a full range of movement. As per the codex they shoot things from afar, then cut down anything that comes in close with a withering shower of shuriken fire.
Your goal for Defenders is not to have them in close combat, so buying an expensive power, just to have them kill 1 or 2 extra enemies before dying is a waste. If you run them with a shuriken cannon to add extra bodies to an assault headed by your elites, then enhance might be plausible, but then you should be getting storm guardians instead of defenders.

You're better off using embolden to ensure they stick around as long as possible. Enhance won't push from the "lose" to "win" category in H2H most of the time so its not really worth it.
