Welcome to Librarium Online!
i just wanna see what alternative tactics people could come up with for the farseer being the versatile unit it is. My idea was casting guide on itself so it could reroll storm.

"I'm glad that worked. Those would have been horrible last words."
Well, my first question would have to be what do you consider to be their 'normal' tactics, since you're asking for alternative tactics here.
But discarding that, I'd say that I'm always tempted to run a farseer in a squad of 8-10 Warlocks with Fortune and tarpit, however, unlike what I normally read on these forums, I would also cast Doom, on whatever it is the seers were attacking. While they normally have no troubles wounding with their weapons, casting Doom essentially insures that every attack that hits will also wound. Of course, the Farseer can just as easily Doom another enemy squad for one of your other units to handle instead, since Doom's range is fairly long (for a CC seer of course, not for a support seer).

Keep in mind the warlock squad does not have to hang with a Farseer. You can fill a Falcon with a squad of warlocks and watch them go crispy fry some unit. They are awesome for a little over 200pts you got 6 heavy flamers. Enough to put a damper on anyones spirits hiding out in cover. The key is doing enough that the repisal will be pettiful and you can keep them around otherwise itgets expensive for a one time thing. I like playing with two farseers and one of my tactics is not for a farseer but for a warlock joined to the jetbike squad and I have used them for dreadnaught patrol. The bike squad becomes ablative wounds for the warlock as he fights it out with big behemoths and this usualy works out for me.
