Welcome to Librarium Online!
Well folks, I'm torn between 5 armies and I can't choose one. One of them is (funnily enough) nids. They were my first 40k army and I loved them to pieces. I have often thought of coming back to them, but I dunno. Anyway, the reason for this post is to ask you to give me reasons why I should go nids, rather than the other 4.
well if you liked them as much as you say, why not?. They are fun to paint, fun to play, fun to assemble, make cool conversions and are a very flexible army. You can field nidzilla lke me, a cc horde, a shooty horde, elites, allround. There are loads. so trust the penguin and "start Tyranids"
Agreed, I do miss my nids. I would be doing shooty (the only one I never did last time round). Maybe after that speedy.
Anyway something from the eldar forum, the armies im doing:
The armies are:
Thanks and thanks in advance.
So... welcome back to horde?
come on... i need another 'nid beginner, i just started as well you see.
Oh I'm no beginner. I played them in 3rd and at the start of 4th. Also for about a month when the new book came out (just for the hell of it). And I have been keeping tabs on them for quite a long time.
Nids rock. No other reason needed. They eat entire planets and crush the hope of all things living in the galaxy.
Game wise they are fun, incredibly diverse (you can find many different types of armies), they have no tanks. All wounds, which I think is a big bonus.
That is about it. The Hive needs more to help feed so please join us again...we have cookies
The Great Plague meets The Devourer of The Galaxy. What does that make us?
And fluff wise, they are one of about three total armies that stand a chance (and a rather large one at that) of conquering the 40k 'verse. The only other ones in competition are the Orks (as they thrive on war) and the Necrons (although they really need their Gods to all wake to to activate all the tomb worlds), otherwise almost no other army fluff wise has a hope of coming through the war without having been wiped out.
I started Tyranids because I love the horde aspect. You field tons of models and each unit is a threat to your opponent(whether they SEE the threat is another story entirely though ).
You choose Nids because:
we're only getting stronger with the minute, and eldar are growing thinner with the minute, mostly because of the Tnids?
Tyranids aren't religious fanatics, like Chaos Space marines. "No Korhne is the bestest, and I'll show you by lobbing off your head!" " No, Nurgle is better, because he smells the baddest!" etc...
Tyranids aren't religious fanatics, like Witch Hunters. "So, you're able to use psychic powers are you? Well, the mighty Emeror of Mankind doesn't allow you to use psychic powers without a permit, on penalty of death. SO BURN FOR THE EMEROR!"
Tyranids can be painted in any color you like, while Orks can only be painted green.
So seriously, What kind of play style do you prefer (or did you prefer).
Nids and Eldar are fast armies.
Nids and Orks can be played as Horde armies.
Nids, Orks and Chaos are CC experts.
Eldar is mostly ranged combat with specialists, and Nids can be built to do exactly the same.
Chaos and Witch Hunters can mix ranged with great CC, just like Nids can do.
If you like all the above things, playing Tyrands is probably the superior choice, because we can be anything we want!
