Has anyone tried or seen this in action?
Big Mek KFF
Elites: 3 squads of nobs in battlewagon with defrolla
Troops: 1 sqaud of nobs in battlewagon with defrolla
rest of troops as boys to load into heavy support battlewagons witht boss and mek
Heavy: 3 battlewagons with defrolla
Haven't pointed it up but think with some small squads of nobs you could get lots of boyz in the battlewagons. Basically the nobs just to get the battlewagons. With the big mek you would be obscured the whole way up to the enemy. Then lots of smashin and crashin into them.
It's a hilarious idea and I'm working on 2 BWs right now to build up to it probably going to get 2 new battlewagons and convert the 5th from whatever spare bits I have lying around.
The only problem you will run into is AV10 on the rear and dawn of war. With DoW your boyz and their wagons will not come in at the same time and can lead to problems as you wait for reserves to show up. It wouldn't be as bad if you run lots of big mobs with the KFF or bring out the Nobs in their BW but it can be a huge pain for this army.
In Dawn of War missions you either start with the troop Nobs and their wagon, or start with nothing on the board at all, since you have that option.
The problem is reserves. You have to roll for the boyz and their wagons seperately and waiting for the right things to show up and significantly hurt your overall performance.
Everything thats not "in reserve" becomes available turn 1 though, so he still gets tham all on T1, just they have to come on from his table edge.
Righto, I must have been thinking of old school Escalation again (such horrible times, I think I have some kind of post-traumatic stress disorder).
Been browsing around looking for a relatively cheap basis to start a conversion for wagons. Found these they are pretty plain to start with which is what I want as the one I am working on now I had to hack alot of stuff off. These are $5 a piece and are 1/32 scale so i think they would be just about right. It looks like a pretty good start at $35 for 7 throw in alot of orkiness and I think they will look good.
Oh man, that looks fun.
I'm just putting it out there, it is possible to have 8 if you're looking for as many battlewagons as possible. Also there is a bit of a problem, like how many points you wanted to fit this in to, because I've toyed around with it an figured I can fit about 5 battlewagons into a 1500 point army list. The problem is that since the nobs are like your main troop, I want them to survive, so the idea of just running them barebones just seems somewhat rediculous to me. How do you plan on running your Nobs, battlewagons and in how many points.
i pointed it up for 2000 its in the army lists under mecha boyz. How can you get 8 while still keeping the KFF?
