anyone have any cool and easy ways to make Stormboyz other than buy the conversion kit off GW? pics would be nice too.
wait 3 months for the new plastic kits. They are awesome!
i agree with nova they are the bomb!!
Lets go massacre something
I am a sexy shoeless god of war!
I just saw the new stormboyz models and they are cool lookin models but i think i still like a customized model myself just because of its uniqueness. When everyone has the same models it takes away some of the fun for me anyway.
Fair point but how many storm boys do you want?
Besides your boys will likely all look like everyone elses because its hard to make 100-200 boys look different!
well the basic boy is different because it needs to be replicated so many times but i think its nice when a small unit (small for orks anyways)is customized, but i was thinking 10-15 stormboyz maybe, depends on if i get any inspiration from other people cuz idk where to start.
I once tried to convert some stormboyz. Basically I had a 1/48 scale F-14 Tomcat sitting around, not yet with missiles attached. I chopped the AIM-54 Phoenix missiles in half and used the bottom half (cuz they had fins) and added the nose cones, then glued them on the backs of da ladz with some control gubbinz. Presto, Insta-flyboyz!!!
Father Mulcahy: Just as the Lord said to Noah, "Everything in pairs."
Pierce Hawkeye: Of course the Lord was holding three aces at the time.
I have successfully used the older search lights. The ones that used to come on most sprues, but especially the ones from Imperial Guard tanks (You may be able to use new ones, I don't remember exactly what they look like). Basically, I strapped the light tube, it is cone shaped, upside down onto the back. I didn't attach the light piece itself, instead leaving the bottom open. Then, I took one of the shoulder protectors that come with Orks, and attached in near the opening to make it look like it was used as a controlling foil.
Lastely, as I assembled the Orks them selves, I used regular bases, but attached the flying bases peg to the base and then to the back of the Ork, near where the search light, rokkit pack attached to the Ork. In doing this, I adjusted the legs so that it looks like the boyz are landing, a very cool effect, and it also helps make them look like Stormboyz and create a little diversion from them having search lights strapped to their backs.
I used a lot of various 'rokkit' looking things. I also had some leftover grenade launchers and flame throwers from my IG bits, so I took some of those grenade launchers and glued them to the gas tanks of the flamers. They look pretty good.
Also, I had some of the terrain from the 'Battle for Skull Pass' Warhammer Fantasy box set, and one of the items was a line of pointy, vaguely missle shaped dwarf statues. I cut them off the stand and filed them down a bit, and they made pretty servicable rokkits to glue to the back of the boyz. ^_^

Anyone have a pic or link to the new Stormboyz models?
