i sorta inhereted a former 40k players army it was mostly orks but it looked like he tried out imperial quard at some point. i found a broken catchen senital and bike and noticed they had some cool stuff like legs that looked like deff dread legs, a powerclaw, some guns i could use for a dread and even some guns i could use for lootas and a bunch of scrap. so anyway if anyone could give me tips on how to convert the thing and since i dont currently have a dread how big are they? and stuff like that.
Sentinel is Dread sized about, other vehicles can make good Looted Wagons/Battlewagons/Trukks with propa converting.
Conversions aren't hard for Orks, just make it big, stompy, spiky, with loadsa dakka, killy, red, or generally ramshackle and unsafe and you're good to go.

A comment I got today fits well with orks. "Don't try too hard." Orks build rough and ready machines. Never safe always light on everything. Don't try to make it look fantastic because then it will look overdone, it needs to look like it was thrown together 5 minutes before a new fight broke out. Then you will have a mighty ork force of converted vehicles.

NovaJohn and ==Me== hit the nail on the head. If you have parts that could "possibly be turned into a <insert orky vehicle here>" ... then it can be done with ease. I recently took a deffcopta, 2 extra trukk wheels and random orky bitz and made myself a Warboss on Bike conversion... (once its done i'll post pics). I do not play bikes in my army.. but I figured it would be fun.. It looks like it should fall apart (as terms of on the battlefield) at any moment.. and thats what makes it look so Orky.
Is a wheel falling off, but held on by random bits? Perfect!
Is there a hole in the side of your wagon with some sheet metal covering 'almost' all of it? Even better!
The "Dont try to hard" is great advice. If you don't have Orky bitz... find other army bits and make 'em Orky...
Tools required: x-acto knife, glue, imagination. (and possibly a lighter if you want to melt stuff!)

I would have said "try to make it a little sloppy" however "don't try to hard" really simplifies it up. Its NOT hard to make a tank or walker look Orky, and you can convert anything in my opinion. If someone says it can't be converted "Oi dat ting cants be looted", would only make a ork try harder into getting one. You can put anything on Ork Tanks and Dreads, i took some copper Chain, the skull and horns from the Ghazghkull sprue, and a Pike with Marine heads from the pewter Nobs, and put them on my "russ", now i got a Buldozer with a animal head chained on, a battlecanon(boomgun) with Tusks, and a pretty git stick on the turret mount, and i think i put about, 50% effort into it, happy converting Mate, bash em good.
