Ok playing a 1500 pt game soon vs a very Hordy Ork player.
Now i dont want to play a chesse list vs him as its a friendly but what things should i look out for other that the 120+ boyz i know he will take?
Advice on squads and should i take Quin's? or leave them
What do you have?
If you have any WW with SL they would rip though the orks armour.
Striking scorpions would be a good choice too. I've never used Harliquins so i don't know about them. Also the large blast of the Fire prisms would be excellent, if you have 2 way better then you would wound on 2s. Just think of all the boyz you could kill with one shot!!
Pretty much access to everything bar forgeworld stuff.
The advantage I have now of having the cash but no the time, where as before it was plenty of time and not enough money
Was very much going to focus on assult with 2 squads of scorpions avengers and 3 walkers with scatterlasers.
I dont like to sit back and shot, other wise i would of went Tau/SM.
Well you can do what i do just the other day to an orc player in apoc. Wraithlord + da green tide = never ending CC. but then agian that was only becuase i was also playing with daemons (point reasons, not fluff.) and a greater daemon popped out from the warboss of da green tide.
Striking scorpians are one of your better bets for CC, i also like warp spiders, thier low armor makes it really worthwile. And harlies are just plain fun!
and if he has a death sqaud of mega armoured nobs with powa claws, i like the seer council with fortune, very resiliant.
War Walkers with missiles would be useful too. Depending on the size of his hordes, you might be able to slow his advance down with a few pinning tests, and six blasts doesn't suck. Barring that, you could use the majority of your troops for thinning the horde and use your missiles to krak his leadership type units. Striking Scorpions are probably a good bet as well, good armor, good strength and the ability to infiltrate can mean that scorpions may be able to act as delaying units, putting casualties on squads in vital areas.
Fire Prisms could be pretty good as well, and are a fairly cheap alternative to full squads of War Walkers.
I think you need to spend more time on your floor.
2500 Black Templars
I personally really like Fire Prisms. With a better BS than the Falcon, huge range and varying blast they are a great support unit. I try to always take two. As it's already been said I will also suggest striking scorpions. Don't worry about pouring on the shredders he's taking a ton of models and you should use the weapons you have available to try to win, just don't decimate.
