A Ravener with ST and RC has 4 attacks +1 for the talons. Can only three of the four attacks be counted as hits with the Rending claws since the 4th is coming from the Talons? Or is this a case that when in CC its a flurry of swipes with both CC weapons and all four can be considered to have hit with the RC?

Also has anyone ever equipped their Raveners with two sets of ST?

All the attacks count as Rending Claws. The sything talons give you a +1 attack. Just like a Chaplain with a Bolt Pistol and a Power weapon, all of his attacks are with the power weapon.

    Raveners have 4 base attacks?

2 Sything Talons might work for Orks or any other swarm army that you might face. Imperial Guard, that probably work well, but you have to get there first!

All FOUR attacks count as RC attacks because the ST don't count as a two handed weapon... so yes, you can roll to hit on 6 for auto wounds FOUR times! Fun yea?! I would NEVER arm them with just ST, waste of points, you can get one extra attack, or auto wound anything? I'd go with the auto wound on all accounts....

Yep, unlike my Tyrants and Carnifexes I don't bother with the rest of the swarm and just glue the bioweapons in place... And I personally think the Ravener is only worth it with ScyT + RenC.

I thnk that smaller brood size is always better with them since morale isnt that much of a problem with them and your opponent cant shoot all of them at once, which is a VERY good thing.

    As Flinger said...

They're so fragile they're rather easily killed by even Bolter fire, so unless You make a LARGE brood (4-5), it won't matter...

If Raveners are all the Fast choices You have, then spread them out to take all the slots if You have models, even if that means You'll have broods of a single Ravener. Their primary role is to draw fire, and secondary to inflict damage when/if they reach CC.

Just remember to treat them as big 'Stealers and keep them out of LOS or at least in cover. Don't move them into the open unless Gaunts have engaged in CC and thus restricted the LOS of the opponents.

Additionally multiple fast broods of Raveners can head for different parts of the battlefield, requiring more concentration on the part of the opponent.
