So why did you start Eldar?
I started Eldar as they have AWESOME models and you can excellerate your painting skills with them.
PS. Also they are the strongest race when used in the right hands. My cousin has a great 1500 pts list he has played 21 games with Eldar never lost. I challenged him to 3, 500 pts games and I had a Hive Tyrant, 16 Spine Gaunts and a Carnifex and he still beat me!
So why did you choose Eldar?
Used to play High Elves in WFB. Logical continuation.
I got into eldar because of the fluff, the whole farseers looking into the future to give them a chance of surviving grabbed me. Stayed in because the army is so easy to turn into a wreck and so great when it works. As an added bonus I get to play many different types of list with the same army be it tough, mech, horde, cc, speed, eldar can play any way we want.
It's all about the specialization! Seriously though I looked at the models, how they worked, and their story and I was sold hook line and sinker. Each squad doing what they are meant to perfectly and trusting in the other warriors to do their jobs with equal precision was the way I thought my army should work. Also, elves have always intrigued me so space elves are just that much more awesome.
Never apologise for asking questions young seers, through asking
questions we find answers, and through those answers we gain
knowledge of ourselves and the universe around us
Meet My Autarch
I started because like Dekendo, Elves have always intrigued me. Combined with my friends telling me that I should and the idea that things were specialized and everything had to flow correctly to be successful just sounded cool to me. Yay for harmony in games!
When I decided I was going to start 40K there wasn't any doubt in my mind what army was for me and that was the Eldar (I'd never heard of the dark eldar at the time.)
I was in stillwater and most of the armies had one or two people that played them, there was one eldar player who basically took me under his wing but before he did he asked me this very question.
"Do you want to play Eldar because of the way they look or because they are powerful?"
My answer hasn't changed. "Both."
Everything I have told you, even this, is a lie.
because noone can cheese out 500 points like eldar

if pro is the opposite of con, does that mean progress is the opposite of congress?
Well Eldar got me into the whole tabletop gaming thing.
Walking past a GW shop in town and saw the 'new' Wraithlord model in the window, it was the Launch day. So i thought, why not, i like building stuff like this and did plenty of those model planes n stuff when i was a kid.
A few weeks later i had a very decent 1000 points worth, wich is now prolly over 2K and still growing. All my armys are bought purly because i like the look of the models, best way to do it imo.
i started as tyranids, but decided to change whit the realese of 5th edition, also because i like the balance between CC,speed, and Guns that tau don't have, and who does'nt like hovering tanks?
When I first began playing, I had a small 500 pt. tau list (It was when they first came out). When I went over to my friends house his brother had a small 500pt. list of eldar. Needless to say he crushed me all four times we played, and I was amazed at the speed and complexity of the eldar. He completely controlled each game with his troops. Over the next month he gave me his troops and I never looked back.
