Just wondering how people like to fill their heavy support slots. At the moment I've just got 1 ravager but have my eye on a pair of talos too (this would be for a 1500pt list). Do you think this is a viable setup or do you prefer the firepower of more ravagers?
I've not mentioned scourges as I feel the concensus is they're a bit of a waste of time. If anyone disagrees though please let me know
Nurse by day, Haemonculus by night
I think it would depend on the army you are facing, though im preferential to the ravager. If your ravagers would be at greater risk from some long range powerful weapons (I'm looking at you Tau), the talos could be an option. or in a casual game, the talos is good just for a change of pace.
(WH40K) Dark Eldar - (12,000pts) Sisters of Battle - (5000pts) Dark Angels -(3500pts) (WHFB) Dark Elves - (10,000pts) Beastmen - (5000pts) Empire - (3000pts) Wood Elves - (1500pts)
Scourges are a waste of points don't even consider them.
Talos can be fun but in most armies he's going to be a waste, unless your using webway portals he's likely never to actualy make it into combat as he gets out run by the rest of your army and when he finaly gets close taken down fairly easy.
Go with more ravagers. the option of DL or disintegrators makes them versitile against different type of opponents.
I use 3 talos, works good for me but changes how DE are played - which is why I like it
I disagree with Aleis, a. they can now run it can't be avoided very easily; however, if you use raiders they will outpace them still, and b. they can suck up a ton of firepower/I find they aren't taken down in combat very easily at all
I have yet to play a game with my nascent dark eldar force, but my perspective from fielding a wraithlord is that sometimes being a fire magnet is worth the points. If people are so afraid of it "OMG D6 power weapon attacks? BLARGHLE!" that they ignore the raiders and divert fire at the talos, aaall the way on the other side of the board, it's doing a good job.
I take 3 Ravagers there just mint in 5th ed.
I used to take Scourges with Splinter Cannons, but a Talos is a much better option. 1 Ravager with 3 Disintegrators standards, another if I can, then a Talos. Talos are so great in CC, with Toughness 7 a lot of troops are gonna have a hard time hurting it.
