    Contents of the Skyray box...

I have heard both on this forum and in GW (but not seen a demo) that the SKyray has all of the bits for a Hammerhead in it too..

Is thsi true? Because if so I will just be buying Rays from now on...

    Thanks in advance.

    Sokahr

That is the word, since the Skyray box was released. Interesting, too, since it costs the exact same as the Hammerhead and contains the bits necessary to field either. Extra bang for your buck.

    Nemesis is right

Nemesis is right, there is officially no reason on earth for you to purchase a Hammerhead ever again. You get six seeker missiles and some cool bits in a Skyray box too...

One of the best value deals GW has done recently is the Skysweep Missile Defence Wing, with 2 Skyrays and a Devilfish in one go! It's aimed of course at the Apocalypse arena, but getting the Devilfish for free due to the cost is pretty cool, plus all the options are in there for the Hammerheads too.

If someone is doing a Farsight list, you can use this boxed set to take care of the Skyray and Hammerhead entries straight away, plus you have a troop transport for the obligatory FW squad as well. Nifty.

would many peoplke notice or care if you used the Sky ray turret to change the devilfish into a skyray thus giving you 2 hammerheads and a sky ray

The only thing you would need to figure out is what to do with the front center spot where the devilfish has a burst cannon and the Skyray/Hammhead has a targeting sensor. It should be an easy conversion.

Also, the front two slots where there are drones on a devilfish are an option for a skyray. If you want SMS or burst cannons there, you would have to convert to get those also, but again, this should be simple using drone bodies and extra burst cannons or missile pods you probably have, or will have, lying around.

Well drones and burst cannonsare fairly common seeing as not many people use the burst cannons of suits (do they) and left over drones are common so yeah it would just be targetting sensor bit that youd need to put a bit of effort into.

It is. IIRC, what I did was to use a part of the sprue to make a block in the front opening of the chin mount, add a strip of metal to it then magnetise the array and the burst cannon.

On the sprue there are a few circular pieces of "throw-away" sprue. One of these is large-ish and fits nearly perfectly into the recesses in the chin mount. I'm sorry I can't be more specific about it than that, as it's been a while since I did the conversion. I have done it several times though, and it's really handy.
