Hi everyone, as I am planning to make my first Winged Hive Tyrant, I have a few questions
1) I am in need of big, good looking wings, and I heard that Balrog wings are quite good. Is this true, and what else is good on a Tyrant.
2) Could I have some photos of Tyrants with wings, because I am intrested in what it will look like.
3) Once I get the wings, I will be needing to glue them on. Where is a good place to glue the wings on so that it looks good and is balanced.
4) do you have any tips on the wings, or anything else to say?
All replies will be greatly appreciated.

Dragon wings also go very well.1) I am in need of big, good looking wings, and I heard that Balrog wings are quite good. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...live-lamp1.jpgGlue = transportational nightmare. Please consider pinning them on. That way you can detach them and actually have a functional Hive Tyrant.3) Once I get the wings, I will be needing to blue them on. It takes a lot of guts to cut into an expensive model like a Hive Tyrant4) do you have any tips on the wings, or anything else to say?
thanks, could you please explain the "pinning". Is this by using blue tac or something similer?
Of course. Pinning is pretty much what it says.
It involves the use of thin, stiff metal rods (or pins) to stabilise and hold two parts together.
As you know, blue-tac will eventually dissapate and fall apart.
A pin will keep the wings on permanently. Basically, you need to drill a hole in the wings and then the Tyrant's body.
In one of the pieces you'll need to insert a pin and secure it with a strong glue.
I'd recommend pins in the shape of the UK plug socket (basically three in a triangular shape - like the Predator's targeting laser). This gives a lot of security.
It is tricky, but a winged hived tyrant is an ambitious project
I fully believe, however, that if I managed it, then anyone can. ANYONE.
I used the Balrog wings. Absolutely love 'em. Had to cut off some of the wing so that it would fit in the socket. Here's some pics of my dakka flyrate: link. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Thanks for the replies guys! That helps alot.
I decided on the dragon wings I think the Balrog wings are a bit too big, but the dragon wings are the right size, now I have to get my army list through the test of LO, then start ordering the pieces. (I have to order by 2 weeks, or I will have to spend a lot more money).
The Pinning sounded alright, but I was thinking that it will suck having a tyrant with 6 holes in his back. I will probably take the tyrant parts with me to Australia as I have all the equipment there... thankyou for the help everyone! and thanks for the quick replies!
