Welcome to Librarium Online!
My Dark Lances are wielded by short sighted drunks and powered by year old AA batteries. Over the course of the last five games this is their usual performance. In a two lance squad, one will miss, one will hit. Then proceed to roll a 1 for armour penetration. This has happened so often my opponent keeps telling me they forget to put the batteries in. Then he rolls over me with marine packed Rhinos, Dreadnoughts and a Baal Predator. My blasters also suffer from this.
My Sybarites also seem to suffer from some sort of debilitating effect in close combat. When called upon to roll 3s or 4s, they roll 2s and 1s. The rest of the squad fail to hurt anything, then get torn to bits in close combat. I know they're not really meant to be assaulting things as a first option, but no plan survives contact with the enemy. And neither do my warrior squads, apparently.
Clearly certain members of my Kabal have been marked by She Who Thirsts and are doomed.
Do you have a unit or two that consistently lets you down, despite all odds?
Win 2. Draw 1. Losses 11.
I'm still learning. :)
I know what you mean here Malaghast. Those DLs can be a real pain in the neck. However, I guess it must be down to the luck of the dice. I once fired all 12 DLs and 5 Dissies I had in my army that were alive at once, and I managed to take out (against Orks) 3 Deffkoptas, an entire squad of 20 Boyz and the Warboss. I love my DLs. The Warriors are a little irritating too, especially in CC. However, they don't take the cake. That horrid title goes to my Mandrakes and Wyches.
I only use my Mandrakes against armies that are not adept at CC, and do not have a lot of units to block the places where I may deploy them. This all works good and all, I deploy them secretly, they charge the nearest enemy. But some unknown and absolutely annoying reason, they never seem to take out that first unit. It is really displeasing seeing the enemy's face when the Mandrakes pop up right in front of them, but it changes from a look of anger to a look of sheer delight, as they cannot take out that squad, even against Tau! (WTF) They then get wiped out.
Second Place goes to a particular squad of Wyches I have. These guys always go out looking for the high Toughness units and MCs. They can easily kill anything taller than them baring down upon them, like a Tyranid Carnifex or Necron Tomb Spyder. They slay with ease. But if this squad gets charged by standard troops and infantry, they get slaughtered with just as much ease as they do to the large guys. I just don't understand it. All my other Wyches can do it, why can't they?
Anywho, they are my annoyances. And despite all odds, with the merciless horrors they face, they can take out the large monsters, and not the standard infantry. Damn!
Light a fire for a man, and he will be warm for a night. Light a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life.
My Agonizers always seem to hit, and do no damage.
In a controversy the instant we feel anger we have already ceased striving for the truth, and have begun striving for ourselves.
I've only had one really bad luck game recently and that was against an opponent whose list wasn't, but may have well have been specifically made to beat up DE.
Lots of multi-shot high str. low AP weaponry.
Couldn't land a kill at all, let alone when I needed it. My wyches charged the avatar, failed to wound him, failed their LD test, ran away and were cut down. Then my dracon charged some rangers, didn't wound them and was cut down.
But on the whole I play for averages, knowing what my averages are and play for them. Most of them time it works out in my favour.
Dear Game Developer,Caps-Lock, its like cruise-control for AWESOMENESS!
Rock is cheese, Paper is just fine
WWP and other Dark Eldar how to
Not a unit per se, but my agonizer weilding syrabites have consistantly failed to get kills for me. I have problems hitting and wounding against normal troops, and if I fight something that has an invul save I'll hit and wound well, only to have the other play pass his invul saves.
I've considered throwing them in a slave pit or feeding them to the warp beasts, I'm not quite sure yet.
Everything I have told you, even this, is a lie.
For me its sniper squads and raiders with 1 lance - I need a 3 lances to defy the odds I normally have with them. I am at the point of just declaring all the units that are going to fire on with their lance (from different raiders and sniper squads) and just roll them together as rolling them separately is just plain failure.
I did have a 3 lance ravager just hit with one lance at a land raider, then I rolled a "5" then a "6" to blow it up - it was like "WOW", that never happens and then felt bad for my opponent.
As for raiders with only 1 lance shot, I will favor the horrorfex now and figure silencing an entire squad of something is a shot better spent than using 1 lance.
"On a hunch, I melted them down and inhaled the fumes and read the dark eldar codex again, AND FOUND A BUNCH OF NEW RULES HIDDEN BEHIND THE OTHER WORDS..." [Gardeth on modelling & interpreting the DE Codex]
Clearly the dark eldar need to use a better brand of car battery for their lances and some basic combat training for their sybarites.
I'm sorely tempted to go back to the three lance ravager. The disintegrators are great, but my usual opponent has the canny habit of spacing his squads perfectly so blast weapons don't hit as many models. I have terrible luck with the sustained setting, so I don't bother. Hopefully with um...(counts fingers)...nine dark lances on the table I might be able to pop at least one tank...

hehe hawk, i remember that game, our ork friend used that naughty word so many times in a sentance that he almost got booted from gw ;D
and yes i have suffered "bad luck syndrome"
unit of eldar jetbikes, 3 games in a row continuously failed danger terain tests, once 4 of the 5 rolled 1's on a single test...
I had my best and worst luck with DE all in a single game. I had in a 1000 point game pretty much my entire army fail to do anything besides wound a wraithlord twice. They all then died, besides a dracon with power weapon, drugs, sf and an animus who proceeded to take out his ENTIRE army, leaving just the falcon still standing before he failed his second drugs roll and snuffed it. The SF was still intact, and he'd rolled for 2-4 drugs around 8-10 times in the game! The rest of the guys did nothing at all though.
I know what people mean about new batteries for the DLs though, I never seem to get a pen hit with them, then when I do its always a 1 or 2. GRRRRRRR... and even thats IF they hit. They seem to miss 2/3 of the time instead of hit with 2/3.
