Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok, I decided that instead of breaking the bank on a tonne of crisis suits just for dual pods, I would use some of the SMS options I never use on my vehicles to get things rolling.
What are your opinions? Do you think there is anyhting else that could be done to make them look a little more 'Deathrain'?
I quite like the idea of more indirect 'lazer guided' missiles, so the targetting array has been added to the right forearm, and the drone controller to the left (as a stabilising computer, working with the suspensor unit represented by the shield generator to keep the suit stable in flight and when firing).
I eagerly await your feedback.
They look nice and would definetly follow WYSIWYG dont see how they could ever be a problem.
The other thing is very minor but I think it would improve the look of the models a lot. The TA on the right arm (the arm with no MP on the shoulder), the array would look much tidier if it was flush with the arm. I would remove it, cut of the locating tab and glue it carefully so it is flush with the arm. I think it would look much neater and be a big improvement. Like I said a minor thing but I think it would be worth doing.
One more tip, you should check out some of the guides on posing XV8's on this and other forums because with very little work you can really add some dynamism to the models. You look like you can build very tidily so I think you could easily add some dynamic poses.

Thanks guys, points taken on board. I have dynamically posed my commander and twin-plasma suits as if they are running/jetting towards the enemy, guns blazing, and decided to stay static with these deathrains, but I think another missile pod on each shoulder would look pretty badass .
I will get on it when I put this Skyray/Hammerhead down Thanks again.
Ive only ever seen 2 mean looking crisis suits one had wings a sort of dark eldar looking weapon for a plasma rifle and the other is mine who has a shoulder mounted cyclic ion blaster with a target over his eyes a flag of the sacea sept 2 plasmarifles with heavy bolters attached to them and also shield generators attached to the arm also with 2 more heavy bolters on his back o and spikes on the end of the heavy bolters (one fell off ) hes intimidating i get a lot of what the trucks and lols and the frequent awesome or wicked
Try and beat that
ill try put a picture on but the camera isnt the best and i dont really know how
He does look cool and intimidating to me and the others that see it but thats because we have very few tau players where i live and im the only one with any customised models that are in a fully finished army
And please dont dis the paint job if i post it as im not the greatest of painters but im making progress as this is my first army and ive got a rather unsteady hand (too much sport and video games )
Personally, I'd move the TA to the right shoulder and drop the shield down to the left arm.
Nifty use of SMS...

Ok guys I have added the additional pods, and have begun work on painting. Most likely i will have a pic of my Shas'El up by the weekend, and the Deathrains the week after.
I would love to see what other crisis conversions people have going on atm, or works that they are especially proud of.
