Welcome to Librarium Online!
Well, i was looking at the weapons beast mutation. Is it really worthwhile? I thought it would be fun to really screw around with it: rippers. Giving them barbed stranglers or venom cannons. 3 ST 5 attacks or a ST 1 large blast. this last one made me laughm(i picture a large shell landing near enemies and when it hits ground, mist pours out and scares the $hit out of the enemies. Wouldn't you be if mist poured out of a little ball and the mist started coming towards you?) ... So where should i apply weapon beasts?
Necron will stand for eternity.Their race has survived aeons by trading their very souls for metal bodies. Now, they will live on through eternity and will vanquish all life from our universe. For they are Necron. Flesh is weak. The machine will rise!
For CC Gaunts, I'd only ever consider RenClw WB Mutants.
For shooty Gaunts, I'd probably go for the Spike Rifle detailed in the Chapter Approved section of UK site, since the larger guns would end up being somewhat expensive.
For Rippers, I dislike them, but I've heard that RenClw WBs can do well.
Warriors one could consider with a VCannon WB... Why? Mutations do not affect the FOC slot, so You could have a brood with more than a single VCannon as Elites. But I still probably wouldn't field them.
"The meat things seek to destroy ourselves. They hunt us as we hunt them but they are weak and uncertain. The inferior flesh will be entirely destroyed, all biomatter consumed. Ourselves will fight to the last, all weak flesh must be devoured."
i've never thought about that. so i tried making a squad of 10 rippers all with venom cannons. it would cost 310pts. but hey, isn't it worth it? it would look stupid but 30 st 5 shots isn't bad. sure, they would only hit on 5+ but statistically thats 10 hits. not bad for rippers and as long as you keep them out of blasts way they should be ok.
"I have seen you humans, trying to forge an Empire in the name of a corpse"
That's hardly worth it, unless you play against footslogging aspect heavy (not scorps) eldar. You will also quickly run out of targets once the rest of your army hits the enemy lines.
310pts for the firepower of five BS4 heavy bolters is quite expensive, even if they can fire on the move.
Rending claws are a way better choice for rippers.
Also take into account that such a high number severely restricts the other species that you can take, if you want all rippers to be mutants, then you can have only two other species in your army.
