The Base Of A Baneblade (Avaliable for £20)
Other (Please specify)
I’m just about to start building my Ork army that features 2 Battlewagons with Deff-Rollas. But I have mixed feelings about the new plastic Battlewagon so I’d thought I’d ask you ork players…“What Tank Would/Did You Use To Construct Your Battlewagon?”
I used a Leman Russ that a friend gave to me after his girlfriend stomped on it. (Lovers spat!!!!)
Victory is achieved through mettle.
Glory is acheived through metal.
Right now I have a Leman Russ tank squadron (Apoc deal for 3 of them!) that is waiting to be kunverted into a trio of Battlewagons. I'll probably pick up 2 or 3 of the new ones (I love the train look) and a Baneblade to turn into a BW/Skullhamma.
I might use this horribly ugly toy.

That seems a tad large for a humble Battlewagon, but it does give ==Me== an idea...
I'm off to the bargain bin toy stores for cheap dinos and trucks!
I.. err.. ==Me==.. brings up a good point. I'm somewhat of a 40k shut in - the only battle wagon I've (not to be confused with ==Me=='ve) seen is a kunversion. What are the rough dimensions of a battle wagon? I've seen another dump truck at Wally World, slightly smaller, but not as ugly. I can't find a link for it, but I don't think it'd look as (un)nice. That begs the question, what should I be more concerned with, ugly or propa?
If you do it right, it'll be ugly and propa (and shooty, smashy, stompy, and killy in that order).
The only two battlewagons I know of are the FW version and the new one out in January. The FW one looks to be around Land Raider sized, while the new one looks tall and narrow, so maybe the same width as a Leman Russ (think Trukk with lotsa armor). Since there hasn't been an official model yet, feel free to build them how you like, so long as its propa sized. For a guideline, I'd go bigger than a Leman Russ and smaller than a breadbox.
If a child can ride your battlewagon, I think you've gone too far
What if its a really tiny child?
Thanks for the advice mate, I've really got no plans for building them, except to make up my own system for its function - adding extra armour bitz, random wotsits, and the odd hydrolic line jutting out here and there. Oh, and a hammer, hand torch, and screw gun to detail the final touches. I figured the dump truck I found was a bit large - but I liked that. Its quite a bit more imposing than a land raider... especially with a deffrolla on bolted on. Hah
Anyways, enough thread high jacking. I'm interested to hear what other people are using.
I currently have 3 Battlewagons, and I'm not ashamed to admit that two of them are Leman Russes. The third was actually built on the hull of a rhino, but before you freak out, let me assure you that there's a full layer of orky armor plates, panels, trukk wheels, and the back panel of a Baneblade (got it in a random assortment of bits) acting as the front plate, and it actually came out very good, and larger than my Russ Battlewagons.
I'm definitely picking up the battlewagon that's coming out, although I'm probably going to create a bare bones battlewagon with it, and use the extra bits to trip out my other wagons.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Land Raiders and Baneblades are overkill when constructing Battlewagons, both as a model and in real $. A tripped out smaller vehicle works fine.
